National School Meals Week 6th – 9th November 2023

Newdale are celebrating National School Meals Week on 6th – 10th November

Children will have the opportunity to sample vegan and vegetarian options along with their school lunch.

A recycling trolley for uneaten fruit, salad and vegetables will be in the school hall and children will have the opportunity to help staff to put food waste into these compost containers.

Children who eat all their lunch or try new food will be offered stickers.

There will be a small change to our menu as follows:

On Tuesday 7th November, there will be an American lunch theme: burgers / hotdogs with onions, gherkins and coleslaw followed by muffins, cookies or ice cream.

On Wednesday 8th November there will be the usual roast dinner, but also on offer will be a plant based cottage pie.

Finance & Personnel Committee Meeting

On Wednesday, Governors reviewed the staffing structure and the whole school staffing strategy moving forward. Governors carried out a ‘deep dive’ of the induction process by speaking to a new member of staff and were reassured that the process is robust.

Governors were delighted with the Year 3 children’s attitude towards school and the excitement shown about the move to Key Stage 2.

Governors agreed the recent appraisal recommendations and spent time analysing the school finances and future strategic financial planning.

This will automatically roll out
  • The same rules apply to 9 month and 2-year-old funding for working families.  Funding eligibility will start the term after their appropriate age threshold.  All eligibility criteria will remain the same as 30 hours for 3- and 4-year-olds of working parents.
  • Please remember a child cannot access funding until their correct age, a code must be fully valid the first time it is used and cannot be in grace period, applying for a code too early and not updating will prevent access to funding.

Grandparents Tea party

It was wonderful to welcome just over 300 Grandparents into our school this afternoon. It is always so lovely to give the children the opportunity to celebrate their learning and show off their work with their loved ones. Here are a few photographs of some of the activities going on across the school.

Many thanks,

Miss Cook

Safeguarding Reminder

Dear Parents/Carers,

In October, we have organised a free workshop to update and inform parents/carers on safeguarding issues within our local and wider community. These sessions are informative and will provide parents and carers with information and an awareness of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) and County Lines. The sessions will be led by Vicki Ridgewell, who is the Exploitation and Vulnerability Trainer for West Mercia Police. There will be two, identical workshops: one face-to-face and the other online.

Child Sexual Exploitation – A Guide for parents and carers – 2022 leaflet

Wednesday 11th October 2023

Time: 9-10am                  Location: School hall

Wednesday 18th October 2023

Time: 4-5pm                    Location: Teams (please see link below)

We have robust safeguarding systems in place at Newdale and do our upmost to prevent our children coming into harm. All members of staff receive regular training on this particular aspect as well as other safeguarding issues. Our Curriculum, especially our Life Learning curriculum, addresses these areas in an age-appropriate way to support children in making good choices when in their community.

If you are unable to attend but would like to find out more information on this topic. Please read the parents’ guide attached which has been produced by the Telford and Wrekin Safeguarding Partnership.

Yours sincerely,

Miss R Cook

Year 2 Trip fun!

Wild Zoological was a fantastic day out :)

The children loved visiting the animal enclosures and watching both incredible shows. The WILD bird show was fascinating. We couldn’t believe how many birds we saw! They flew so close to our heads. I bet the children cannot wait to tell you all about it!
