Nature Walk 13.11.2023

Good morning,

Year 2 are going on a Nature Walk this Monday 13th November. We apologise for the late notice; we are having some difficulties with posts not loading.

The weather is looking clear in the afternoon, when we are planning for the walk, but children will need warm, waterproof coats. We will be sticking to footpaths, however, children can bring wellies or comfortable footwear to get changed into after lunch if you prefer.

Enjoy your weekend!

Many thanks,
Year 2 team.

Finance & Personnel Committee Meeting

On Wednesday, Governors reviewed the staffing structure and the whole school staffing strategy moving forward. Governors carried out a ‘deep dive’ of the induction process by speaking to a new member of staff and were reassured that the process is robust.

Governors were delighted with the Year 3 children’s attitude towards school and the excitement shown about the move to Key Stage 2.

Governors agreed the recent appraisal recommendations and spent time analysing the school finances and future strategic financial planning.

Year 2 Trip fun!

Wild Zoological was a fantastic day out :)

The children loved visiting the animal enclosures and watching both incredible shows. The WILD bird show was fascinating. We couldn’t believe how many birds we saw! They flew so close to our heads. I bet the children cannot wait to tell you all about it!

Mrs King’s class are BeSMART cup winners!

Children are invited to bring in a toy tomorrow (Tuesday 10.10.2023)

Can we ask that the toys are not electrical or things they do not want to share

Unfortunately, football cards are banned as they can cause arguments when swapped.

 Many thanks,

Mrs King.

Happy Thursday!

Just to let you know the year 2 teachers are very proud of their classes today!

They both worked so hard :)

Y2 – Volunteers needed!

Read, Write Inc – Pure Sounds

Dear Parent/Carer,

The video link below explains how to pronounce each single letter sound correctly. These are called ‘pure sounds’ and are important in allowing your child to blend sounds into words.

‘How to say the sounds’: https://schools.ruthmiskin.com/training/view/iZqY6LWC/9PMBDFTQ

The most common sounds that children mispronounce are ‘t’, ‘c’, ‘l’, ‘m’, ‘n’, ‘s’, ‘k’, ‘f’, ‘r’, ‘v’ and ‘z’. Children mistakenly put an ‘uh’ sound on the end, making it a longer sound and thereby trickier to blend when reading a word. Please have a look at how to say these sounds in particular.

We hope that you find this helpful,

Newdale Read, Write Inc Team
