Welcome to Summer term 2 Year 3s!

Hello Year 3, Mrs Trevor here! We hope you have had a lovely week off and enjoyed the beautiful weather and made lots of memories! We have!

Welcome to the second half of the Summer Term. As you may know, some year groups are returning to school on June 1st. However, not all year groups can just yet and so will need to keep up with all the fantastic home learning they have been doing whilst schools have been closed.

School will be a little bit different at first as class sizes need to be smaller, which means some children will be working with different teachers for a little while. Because of this change, Mrs Mclaughlin and Mrs Pablos  are going to be working with some Year 6 children at school for a little while! So I will continue to set all work for both Year 3 classes on the website and on PurpleMash.

I have already been marking some of your work and looking at all your amazing blog posts so keep them coming. I know when Mrs Mclaughlin and Mrs Pablos get chance they will browse the blog to see what amazing work you will have posted and of course I am in contact with them so can tell them too!

You will be able to contact me via your PurpleMash 2email accounts and I will be happy to help, answer your questions or for you to let me know what you have been getting up to!

If any Y3 parents would like to contact me directly with any questions, they are welcome to use our email address which is newdale.year3team@taw.org.uk at any time and I will be happy to help.

Mrs Trevor :)

Spellings w.b 18.05.20 Jumping Orange words

This week would be the end of half term so it’s Jumping Orange word’s week. Have a try this week and as always, have a little spelling test on a Friday.

Remember, spelling scribbles, writing parts of the word in different colours and putting the words into sentences, are all great ways to practise your spellings.

These words are for the Main, Target and Star spellers this week. If it’s too tricky, practise less words.

Week 5 Jumping words summer 1

Mrs Trevor’s Star of the Week

This week I have been blown away by ALL your hard work and efforts so keep it up year 3. We really enjoy your emails and blog posts!

But there is one person in particular who has shown such determination and dedication to creating such an amazing story with detailed illustrations too.

I am extremely proud of ……………..EVIE D – your hard work, commitment and creativity has shone through in your writing and illustrations. Both Mrs Thomas and I loved reading your story but loved it even more the fact you added some beautiful illustrations to your story too.

Evie has also shown dedication to her music lessons and sent us a video of her playing the keyboard playing ‘Let’s go fly a kite’. It was beautiful!

School update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I understand that you must have so many questions and indeed worries about the news that the Prime Minister announced this week concerning schools. This is a very useful document to read and I hope you find it informative.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers/reopening-schools-and-other-educational-settings-from-1-june

We are currently working very hard on our plan around re opening and hope to share that with you very shortly. If you have children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 then please do fill in the form that was sent out this morning to give us an indication as to whether you plan to send your child/children into school or not following half term.

Kind regards

Miss Cook

VE Day Junk Modelling Challenge

As it is VE Day tomorrow, you may like to take part in a JUNK MODELLING CHALLENGE that has been launched by the museum at RAF Cosford. The challenge is to build your very own aircraft, using whatever you can find around your home! In school, pupils from Nursery to Year 6 love junk modelling so I am sure many children would love to have a go at this at home – it would even be a nice project for siblings, or whole families, to work on together! 🛫🛫

The competition deadline is Thursday 14th May. To enter your aircraft, all you need to do is post a photo of your creation in the comments on the competition post, which can be found at ‘The Royal Air Force Museum, Cosford‘ Facebook page. Alternatively, you can share your photo using the tag ‘@rafmuseum‘ on Facebook.

Good Luck!! ☘
