Year 6 – Arthog Update

Year 6 have arrived safely at Arthog!

A big thank you to all parents who helped this morning to move the children’s luggage to the bus, it showed real Newdale spirit!

Secondary School Applications – September 2023

The closing date for secondary school applications is 31st October 2022

Parent / Carers can submit up to four preference schools on the application and we encourage parents to apply for more than one school as if Admissions are unable to offer their preferred school they may be allocated a school that is some distance away if their catchment school is already full.  Each year Admissions see a lot of applications that have only one preference which can lead to a lot of disappointment when allocated a school some distance from their home address.

Arthog Reminders

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our visit to Arthog is fast approach and we hope your child is looking forward to it as much as we are!

Please can all year 6 children arrive at the assembly hall doors on Monday 10th October at the usual time. Staff will be at the main school gates for the children to leave their luggage rather than bring it up to school. Please try to avoid blocking any main paths with the luggage.

A polite reminder that all medication and the £10 tuck shop money should be handed into the school office by this Friday (7th October), unless essential medication is needed over the weekend.

Please ensure children bring a packed lunch with them on Monday as this will not be provided and they will be able to eat once we arrive at Arthog, before starting their activities.

If your child gets travel sick, we recommend they have an anti-sickness tablet before school and bring a plastic bag with them, should they need it. We will ensure any child prone to travel sickness is sat at the front with staff and a friend.

We will keep you updated via the school website regarding our arrival time on Friday 14th, but we aim to be back in school for 3.10pm, however this may change depending on traffic.

Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.

Mr McFarland and Miss Jones.

The Harvest GATEway Project

3.10.22

Dear Parents and Carers,

This year for Harvest, we are collecting as usual, but in the spirit of supporting our immediate community, we have decided that we want this to be even closer to home and support our own school community in these times of ever-increasing cost of living for everyone.

We will be collecting non-perishable donations (tins of food, toilet rolls, toiletries etc.) for a ‘give and take’ bank – hence the name GATEway (Give And TakE)!

With the contributions that are generously shared by parents, staff and governors, we will be setting up a regularly replenished box of non-perishable items – into which you can add items (box 1) if you can; or take items (box 2) should you need. These boxes will be outside the main office in the parent shelter.

If you can give something, please add it to the box. The box will be based on trust and not manned, and we are very much hoping that it may support those in need as we move into the winter months and while the cost of living is ever more.

Our project will launch during Harvest and we will notify you when the ‘Give and Take’ boxes are in place.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Miss Cook
