Y3 Stone Age Day – next week

We are having a Stone Age workshop all day on Thursday 27th November. We will not be having PE on this day, but will instead be having it on Wednesday 26th November.

PE – change of days next week

On Thursday 27th November, we are very much looking forward to having our Stone Age workshop all day. This means we will be swapping our PE to Wednesday instead of Thursday for that week only.

We will still be having our PE on Monday as normal.

Times Tables Rock Stars England Rocks Competition

Exciting News!

On Monday 18th November until Wednesday 20th November, children in KS2 will be able to take part in a Times Tables Rock Stars England Rocks Competition.

The children will try to answer as many multiplication and division questions correctly as they can. The winning school and class will be based on the highest average number of correct answers per pupil.

The children can play between 7:30am and 7:30pm with a limit of 60 minutes.

Please encourage your child to play at home!

EKO session

Welcome back. We hope you have all had a lovely half term break and ready for another exciting half term ahead!

Just a reminder that it is our EKO (Forest School) sessions this Wednesday (5th).

Please send your child in their forest school clothes and trainers. They can bring their wellies in a bag to change into when it is their session. As the weather is turning colder and wetter, please ensure your child is dressed in warm clothes and waterproof coats.

Thank you,

Year 3 team

NSPCC PANTS Assembly

This week, (03.11.25), children from Reception to Year 6 will be discussing the NSPCC’s PANTS rule as part of a class assembly, led by the class teacher.  During the assemblies, we will aim to teach our pupils the following important safety skills without giving explicit information.

We will be teaching our pupils the NSPCC’s underwear rule, using the ‘PANTS’ acrostic.

PANTS stands for:

  • Privates are private
  • Always remember your body belongs to you
  • No means no
  • Talk about secrets that upset you
  • Speak up, someone can help

The content of the session will be delivered in a way that is fully age appropriate.  The children will then complete additional class sessions in January as part of our ‘Share Aware’ week.

If you would like to know more about the NSPCC’s campaign, please feel free to book onto the parent/ carer workshop hosted by the NSPCC, taking place at Newdale Primary school on 06.11.25 (2:30-3:00pm). This can be booked via Parent Pay. Alternatively, if you have any questions, please speak to the class teacher.

Thank you for your continued support.

Homework over half term

As children have been given ‘Jumping orange words’ for their spellings, we give them an extra week over half term to practice, so please continue to encourage them as these words can be tricky. Children have been taught lots of fun ways to practice such as writing words in different shapes, colours and sizes to help them remember.

Please encourage your child to go on TTRS over the holidays. We currently have a battle between the two classes that ends on 7.11.25! Logins can be found in your child’s reading diary.

If you would like any additional resources to challenge your child over the break, BBC bitesize is always a fabulous start. Children have enjoyed playing ‘crystal explorers’ and I would always recommend ‘hit the button’.

Most importantly, we hope you all have a brilliant half term with whatever you may be doing.

Kind regards,

Year 3 Team :)
