BeSmart cup prize

Mrs Churm’s class are the Be SMART Cup winners!

On Friday our brilliant class was announced as the Be SMART Cup winners and this means we have earnt a treat! The children have chosen to watch a movie in their pyjamas with teddies and do some crafting at the same time!

On Tuesday (25.3.25) the children will be able to bring in their snugglies to get changed into in the afternoon (pyjamas, oodie, dressing gown or small blanket) to enjoy a film with their friends.

The children are very excited and we are very proud of them for their wonderful achievement, as we have been all year!

World Book Day

The children all looked amazing today! This morning they have designed their own supervillains for a story and included costumes, powers and plots. They also created Roman numeral clocks using a spider web based on our current class book of Charlotte’s Web and managed to squeeze in lots of reading too!

Animal Man

We enjoyed some hands on time with a range of animals today and focused on our topic of Animals Including Humans where we revisited knowledge from KS1 and learnt new vocabulary including graminivore and insectivore as well as learning about our impact on the earth. All the adults were so proud of the children who faced their fears and everybody else who got stuck in!

KS2 Family Cooking session – 18th March

We’ve had a big interest in the family cooking session with over 72 parents putting in an expression of interest. As this session is being run by an external agency, they can only accommodate 6 children and their special adult. The 6 children have been randomly selected and parents have already been informed.

We have some other lovely sessions running this half term where children will learn about healthy eating and healthy lifestyle choices in class. Look out for photos on Facebook and class pages of the website.

NSPCC Speak Out Stay Safe

We will be participating in the NSPCC’s Speak Out Stay Safe programme during the week starting 17th March. This important initiative aims to educate children about the different forms of abuse, how to recognise the signs, and the importance of speaking out to stay safe. The programme includes engaging virtual assemblies and interactive classroom activities designed to empower children with the knowledge and confidence to seek help if needed. We believe this programme will greatly benefit our students and support our school’s safeguarding efforts. Please see the attached letter for more information.

Y1 – 6 Saltmine Theatre – Blast Off

Last week your child watched Saltmine Theatre Company’s performance called Blast Off which explored how we can safely use the internet. Blast Off uses the analogy of space to represent the internet and follows the story of Imogen, a young girl who is old enough to journey into “space” on her own. To help protect them, pupils learned the importance of following the Space Code.

It is important that children understand how valuable the internet is as a resource without underestimating how dangerous it can be when not used safely.

As a parent or guardian, you have such an important role to play in helping your child navigate their experience of the online world. Thank you for partnering with your school and Saltmine Theatre Company in keeping your children safe online!
