Update 21.9.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are enjoying this late in the season sunshine. I know the children are loving being outside and many are making great use of our new sports facilities!

In comparison to many schools we are coping well, by way of the number of positive cases we have. That said, we are definitely seeing an increase.

It is so important that you do not send your children into school if they are displaying any symptoms, including any of the precautionary symptoms listed by Telford and Wrekin Council. (Please see the following link Do you have main COVID-19 symptoms or other symptoms? – Do you have main COVID-19 symptoms or other symptoms? – Telford & Wrekin Council ) You need to keep them at home and get them PCR tested before risking a spread of the infection in school please.

If your child tests positive you need to make sure you inform the school as we also have to inform the health hub.  This is so that we can plan what actions to take in school.

We really do need to work together on this to prevent us having to reintroduce some of the more rigid procedures again.

Kind regards and fingers crossed,

New house names

Now we are all back to school, we have decided to have a look at the house system that we have in place. Mrs Clarke and Mrs Everall do a fantastic job of assigning the children into each of the houses and making sure that all the house points that are awarded are counted up.

We are delighted to share with you that we have decided to help our children to know more about where we live and so, our houses have new names. The colours will remain the same but the new names are –

Severn (This was the Phoenix and will remain red)

Ironbridge (This was Dragon and will remain green)

Wenlock (This was Griffin and will remain yellow)

Wrekin (This was Unicorn and will remain blue)

We know it will take a little while to get used to the names, but we are hoping that by sports day, we will all have had enough practice to cheer on the correct team names!

Consultation on the teaching of consent

At Newdale, we are committed to making sure that we teach our children how to stay safe. We want our children to be able to be confident in their understanding of what consent is, in a variety of situations. We have created a set of lessons which we would like your feedback on. Please have a look at the lessons on  https://www.newdaleschool.org.uk/home/curriculum/subjects/sex-education/

and leave feedback using the link on the page.

8.9.21 Drop off/pick up changes

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are constantly reviewing our systems and have decided to alter the drop off and pick up arrangements slightly to hopefully improve things for everyone.

The queues of people outside of the main front gate, along the road are a concern for us and therefore we are going to allow people on site through the top gate and main gate more freely. The internal gates however will not open until the classrooms are about to open. This new system would at least allow people to wait for a short time on site, rather than on the busy road.  Nursery opens at 8.30am and school at 8.40am, so please do not arrive on site much earlier than this as it would then result in you waiting with other people.

It would help us if you encouraged/allowed older children to be independent and walk to class on their own please.

We ask you to be really careful around the school car parks at these busy times. We do have a number of blue badge holders who have permission to come onto site. Where possible, we have asked that they limit movement at key busy times from now on to help us keep everyone safe.

This new system will begin at pick up time today and as ever we will review and alter again if we deem it necessary.

Thank you for your continued support and patience.

End of term message

20.7.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for all of the support and kind words we have received over the course of this year. It has been a very challenging year for everyone. I am so proud of the Newdale team for doing all they can for our children and community under very difficult circumstances.

If over the next 2 days your children have a positive covid result you need to email the school at newdale.primary@taw.org.uk  or ring this school number 07765147868. We need to know in school as it may mean that the Health Hub need to inform direct contacts.

After the 2 day period has lapsed, you need to still report all positive cases, but not to school.

We really do hope this lovely spell of weather continues and allows everyone to get out and about enjoying the summer holiday.

The single most important skill you can develop with your children over the holiday in preparation for returning to school in September is Reading. Whether they read to you, you read to them or they read to a toy or even the dog, reading is the key to all learning. Any time spent on this will really benefit your children and help your teachers next year.

The teams in Newdale have already been spending so much time preparing for next year and they are already fully aware as to the children they will be looking after. We have been busy planning super events for everyone to enjoy during the Autumn and know the children will settle in quickly to their new routines.

I will be updating everyone as to the procedures we will change and retain a week or so before we return. This will be following guidance from the Health professionals and the Local Authority.  Rest assured, the decision making will be measured and always have our children and families at the centre.

Stay safe everyone and have a wonderful summer.
