Year 3 Update- 17.01.2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

Most schools across the country are dealing with significant absence of staff due to covid. We are in the same situation but have further challenges with staff absence linked to other reasons that have recently come to light.

We do not like to use supply teachers as we would prefer to use Newdale adults who are familiar to the children and also familiar with the systems and expectations we have in place.

We have looked really carefully at staffing structures and have had to make the difficult decision to merge Year 3 back into 2 classes from February half term.

Staff are already working hard on which children will join Miss McCullagh and which will join Mrs Pablos and Mrs Poole. Please rest assured that this team will ensure the children continue to thrive for the remainder of their time in Year 3.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Headteacher

Mrs Bishton is leaving Newdale

Dear Parents/Carers,

As much as I would like to retain all members of the fabulous Newdale team, unfortunately I cannot!

It is with huge sadness, but also huge congratulations, that I have to inform you that Mrs Bishton will be leaving us at Easter.

Mrs Bishton has been successful in gaining a really exciting promoted post and I know you will join me in wishing her the very best of luck.

Mrs Bishton joined Newdale in 2007 and has spent the last 8 in the position of Deputy Headteacher. She has made a very significant contribution to so many areas of our school development and her experience in education will be gratefully received across very many other schools in her new role.

We have already put plans in place to ensure continued stability when she leaves.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Headteacher

Year 4 Trip to Blists Hill

Blists Hill Victorian Town Trip

A reminder that the children will be going on a school trip to Blists Hill Victorian town on Thursday 27th of January. The trip shall depart shortly after 9 so please attempt to arrive at the start of registration (8:40am). The trip will return shortly before the end of the school day so can be collected at normal time.

On the day, children will need a backpack to carry their packed lunch and water bottle. Please also ensure sensible footwear for walking around for the day. Due to the time of year, the children will need their coats and may wish to wear gloves and a hat. Children are welcome to bring their own hand sanitiser but this will also be provided by the school. A mask will also be required for travel on the coach.

Consent and payment for the trip can be submitted through ParentPay.

Many Thanks

The Year 4 Team.

E-Safety Top Tip – setting guidelines for your child

Early use of digital technology has been shown to improve language skills and promote children’s social development and creativity.

But it’s not without risks for young children, who may come across inappropriate content or begin to copy what older children do online. This short video outlines some guidelines you could set for your child to help give them the best experience of going online.

Next week the mighty oak children will start their Wonderful Wednesday activities on Wednesday 19th January.  Every week half of the children will go to the woods whilst the others cook.
