Face masks on school site

A big thank you for supporting us in wearing a face mask on the school site during drop off and pick up times.  We really hope that this additional measure will support us all in keeping everyone safe.  We are trying so hard to keep our school fully open for the benefit of all of our families.

Covid update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I want to update you concerning additional measures we are putting into place with immediate effect.

We know that adults are the highest risk by way of transmission of the virus.

Despite our best efforts, many parents are not socially distancing and therefore our risk is higher.

In order to lower this risk factor, we are now going to be asking you to wear a face covering on our school site. This does not apply to children.

It would make sense that this face covering was worn from your home or car and back, but that is your decision.

Please ensure you have a face covering at drop off and pick up times and do not be offended if members of the school team ask you to wear one.

Adults in school will soon be given the option of wearing visors when they cannot maintain a social distance from each other and from groups of children.

I am hoping these new measures will not have to be in place for long. I will update you again, whenever the Department for Education or the Local Authority release more information for schools.

Thank you for your continued support.

Wonderful Wednesday

Mighty oaks children will be continuing with our wonderful Wednesday sessions this week onwards, however your child will have swapped sessions.
Morning forest session: yellow, purple and red group
Afternoon forest session:  orange, blue and green group
Morning cooking group:  orange, blue and green group
Afternoon cooking group:  yellow, purple and red group

If you are unsure which group your child is in please ask.  Please send practical clothes and named wellies for the woods.

Thank you from the mighty oaks team

Nursery reading bags

At last our reading bags and communication books have arrived!  We will be sending them home with you today and at the start of this week.  Please can you share the book with your child and look at the suggestion or question that their key worker has written.  We would greatly appreciate you writing a reply to this question and returnIng the reading bag on a Monday (or the start of the week for your child).  The book bags will be checked weekly and resent home towards the end of the week.
Thank you for your support, don’t forget you can also share their reading on evidence me, we’d love to see photos or videos.

Update 2.11.20

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you all had a relaxing half term.

As you know, the Government have put the country into a temporary lock down again, due to increasing numbers of transmission.

Telford and Wrekin is unfortunately a hot spot and therefore we need to be extremely careful, in the hope we again keep Covid 19 away from our school.

It is vitally important that you do not send your child into school if they are displaying any symptoms of Covid 19 –

  • High temperature
  • Continuous cough
  • Sudden loss of taste/smell

Please also help us by only sending one adult to drop off and/or collect children from school and maintain social distancing at all times. We will be continuing with our one way system and ask that you are patient where we seem to have an unavoidable bottle neck near Mr Banfield and Miss Clay’s classrooms.

We are keeping the flexible start and end times in place to help ease congestion –

Drop off – between 8.30 am and 9 am (we would like Year 6 in as early as possible though please, especially if they walk in by themselves).

Pick up – between 3pm and 3.10pm

Waiting that extra 5 minutes does make a difference by way of how busy the site is.

Public Health England state ‘that staff are more likely to catch the virus from each other or from elsewhere rather than from pupils.’  Pupils are deemed to be low risk when considering transmission. As a result of this, I am reviewing our procedure for staff in school to ensure the best possible safety for not only your children, but also our staff teams.

Communication is key in our battle to keep this virus away. Please do email or call the school to update us of any symptoms or concerns you have. Please note, no parents are allowed on site for whatever reason, as this is deemed a high risk to everyone.

Thankyou for your patience and understanding during this ongoing challenging time.
