Year 1 Maths Activity – Monday 11th May

Hi everyone,

We hope that you had a lovely weekend of celebrations in the sunshine! So many of you have been trying hard to stay active during this time. In school, we like to have movement breaks to keep our bodies awake while we are doing are learning. Here are some animal movement activities that you may like to use when you feel like your body needs a ‘wake up’.

Animal Movement Cards

For your maths lesson today… it is challenge day! ⭐ You worked really hard last week to develop your understanding of the place value of tens and ones so I know you are all up for today’s challenges!

Monday 11th May Maths Activities

Tens and Ones Challenges

Make sure you work extra hard on today’s challenges because it is our last lesson on place value for a little while… tomorrow we will start learning about something slightly different! 🙂

Y1 Phonics

Phonics this week in Y1 is securing our split digraph knowledge. We thought you would enjoy a phonics BINGO week. You may like to play this as a family. Here is a link to an online BINGO game:

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/bingoOriginal/index.html

You can download the cards via the green button, or if you do not have a printer simply download to your devise and copy out your chosen game cards onto a post-it or piece of paper.

Select the game number you want to play and the BINGO game will pop up. Today we are playing the split digraph game 23, sound a-e. Pull the lever and see what word it pops up. If you have the word on your card, colour it in. When you have all the words coloured on your card, shout BINGO! Who will be the phonics BINGO champion?

Literacy

Hello Year 1.

This week we are having a Science theme linked to our Literacy learning.

Today we would like you to learn about How Plants Grow. Attached is a PowerPoint to help with your learning, but you may like to do your own research this week too. I know many of you have already been busy planting at home, so if you are able to do so and haven’t already you may like to get planting in the garden at home for a real-life experience of our topic. We would love to see your photos of this on the blog.

Can you cut and stick the process of planting in the correct order using the sheet attached? If you do not have a printer, you could create a grid and draw your own planting sequence yourself. You could write sentences underneath each picture to describe what is happening.
