Phonics

Here is a link to our online BINGO game for the week:

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/bingoOriginal/index.html

You can download the cards via the green button, or if you do not have a printer simply download to your devise and copy out your chosen game cards onto a post-it or piece of paper.

Select the game number you want to play and the BINGO game will pop up. Today we are playing the split digraph game 24, sound i-e. Pull the lever and see what word it pops up. If you have the word on your card, colour it in. When you have all the words coloured on your card, shout BINGO! Who will be the phonics BINGO champion?

Literacy

Today we would like you to learn about what conditions plants need to grow. Head over to PurpleMash for the ‘Germination’ activity. Click on the button on the activity to read the information attached. Can you write about what things plants need to grow successfully, for example soil, nutrients, sunlight and water? You can record on the PurpleMash activity or paper if you would prefer. You could make your own fact-file complete with illustrations.

On PurpleMash you will also find the following 2do – Garden activity:

We would also love to see you citizenship activities on our blog.

Year 1 Maths Activity – Tuesday 12th May

Hi Year 1,

We have come to the end of our lesson sequence on place value and we will begin our new topic of ‘Measure’ next week. We are going to use the remaining four lessons this week to recap on addition and subtraction. The work we did on counting and place value last week will support us with this. Today, we will be focusing on understanding the relationship between addition and subtraction.

I really am missing having a go at these maths activities with you all, so today…I would like to set you a final challenge to end your lesson. In school, we often ask you to be reflective and think about your learning. I wonder if you could all think of one important thing you learn in your Maths lesson today and post it as a comment on our Year 1 Homework Blog! Just look for this picture and leave a comment below it!

I can’t wait to hear all about what you have learnt!

Miss McCullagh 🙂

This video should help to remind you of the rule (sorry parents, the song is quite catchy 😂)

Your task for today is to play Pictionary with a family member. Have a go at drawing your spellings and writing down which you think have been drawn.

Maths – this week we will be continuing to use the White Rose materials.  Today’s learning will look at adding 2 digit numbers.

Update from Miss Cook

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you will have no doubt heard, yesterday the Prime Minister outlined guidelines that schools MAY return on a phased opening from June 1st starting with Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.  At this moment we are waiting for further guidelines from the Government and the local authority.  We will of course update you with more information as it becomes clearer to us.

Thank you for your continued patience during this difficult time.

 Kind regards

Miss Cook

Just a quick reminder to parents about Oxford Owl’s FREE online reading service.

This service is amazing as it contains a variety of books aimed at your child’s reading level.

As part of your child’s home learning, please encourage them to read as regularly as they can.

Many thanks
