Wednesday’s phonics challenge

I’ve chosen a game today that will help your child practise sounds that they are a little unsure of.  Just select the set of sounds that you feel they need to brush up on (if possible a mixture of ones the know with a few new ones is best).  They then pop the bubbles with the correct sound in it until they get rainbow bubbles.

Shropshire Wildlife Trust – Afternoon Activity

Hello everyone,

As you know, our Science topic in the Summer term is all about planting and growing. The Shropshire Wildlife Trust have been posting lots of fun activity ideas and, luckily for us, tomorrow they are hosting a Facebook Live video all about tree identification that you could do as a family!  Bryony has worked with the children and adults at Newdale before, so I am sure it will be a fun and engaging session! Head over to the ‘Shropshire Wildlife Trust’ Facebook page for more information and to find the video! 🙂 🌳🌲

Make sure you share your learning with us on the Blog – we’d love to hear what you get up to! 🙂

Hello Year 1,

Thank you for everyone who shared with me what they had learnt in yesterday’s Maths lesson. It was great to hear all about your super learning. We are going to carry on with the sequence of learning today and practise using subtraction to find one part.

Phonics

Here is the link to our online BINGO game for today:

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/bingoOriginal/index.html

You can download the cards via the green button, or if you do not have a printer simply download to your devise and copy out your chosen game cards onto a post-it or piece of paper.

Select the game number you want to play and the BINGO game will pop up. Today we are playing the split digraph game 25, sound o-e. Pull the lever and see what word it pops up. If you have the word on your card, colour it in. When you have all the words coloured on your card, shout BINGO! Who will be the phonics BINGO champion?

Literacy

Today we are learning about the Parts of a Plant. Some information about this is on the attached PowerPoint. Once you have researched, can you draw a plant and label the different parts?

School update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I understand that you must have so many questions and indeed worries about the news that the Prime Minister announced this week concerning schools. This is a very useful document to read and I hope you find it informative.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers/reopening-schools-and-other-educational-settings-from-1-june

We are currently working very hard on our plan around re opening and hope to share that with you very shortly. If you have children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 then please do fill in the form that was sent out this morning to give us an indication as to whether you plan to send your child/children into school or not following half term.

Kind regards

Miss Cook

Tuesday’s phonics challenge

Today’s challenge is also an ICT one but this requires no other resources.  The aim of the game is to spell out simple words to keep the viking happy.  Press on the wave to see if your child has spelt them correctly.  Each time you only have to change one letter to make the new word, this helps your child look really carefully at the letters in words.  Eventually you end up back at the word given at the beginning and your child shouts “full circle!”.  Happy spelling!
