Year 1 Maths – Friday 24th April

Hello everyone,

A big WELL DONE on another fantastic week of home learning. The Year 1 team have been really impressed again with all of your hard work and we are so proud of you all. In Maths this week, you have been working really hard to learn how to tell o’clock and half past times. Today, I would like you to use all of your new knowledge to create your very own time diary. All of the instructions you need are in this picture – I have even shared my own time diary with you so you know what it may look like. 🕑🕦

Year 1 Home Learning Friday 24th April 2020

Happy Friday! A whole week almost completed in Year 1 Summer Term!  You have completed some amazing work this week, so thank you for sharing. We really do love to see your work.

Today is spelling test day. Please have your little test at home with your parents and then send your scores to Mrs Goodwin and Mrs Lee. They have been really impressed with your hard work!

Next week, all groups have the same spellings as we are testing the next set of Jumping Orange words. These are attached. Practise lots as these are the words you must know by the end of Y1. Good luck. Year 1 spellings Spring Week 13 JO words

Your work on our story this week has been amazing. Lots of fabulous sequencing and I am confident you all know it well. Todays task is to create your own healthy menu. Can you create a healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper choice? Maybe you could even create one of your choices yourself.

Have a wonderful weekend Year 1 and enjoy the sunshine. Well done to the whole family!

Year 2 Home Learning Friday 24th April

Hello Year 2!

What a wonderful week we have had, the weather has been beautiful!

Your home learning for today is:

Spellings – please complete your spelling test for the rule ‘adding s to words ending with y’.  Don’t forget to email your scores to your class teacher, we would love to hear how you get on!

Literacy – today we have set you some reading tasks.  First of all you will need to read chapter one of Little Red (you will find this as a 2do on Purple Mash).  Then complete the three short tasks linked to this chapter.  All of these tasks can be found in your 2do list.

Maths – Friday Family Challenge!

Can you solve these problems?

Email your answers to your class teacher or upload them onto the homework blog.

PARENTS ONLY – to get the answers or to find more Maths challenges please click here or email us.

Miss Rouse and Miss Horler are eagerly awaiting the final scores for TTRS this week.  It has been close all week – your efforts today could win the cup for your class for this week!

Art – it has been lovely to see all of your art work this week. We have some very talented and creative artists in Year 2 🎨🖌️😊 Today is your last chance to complete activities from the art ideas page and upload them onto the homework blog.  We are looking forward to seeing your work!

We hope you have a great weekend!

From,

Miss Newport and Miss Jones

Nursery Numicon Challenge

Numicon:

Numicon is a teaching aid consisting of plastic tiles with holes which represent the numbers 1 to 10. They can be used to teach place value, ordering and calculation. Numicon are designed to make numbers real for children by them being able to see and physically touch each number.

Each Numicon shape provides children with a visual image of what a number looks like. A child will start to recognise the relationship between different numbers, as each Numicon piece has an extra hole to the last one.

As you may not have access to actual Numicon resources, I have attached a copy you can use as a paper template to print and cut them out. Once you get the hang of Numicon, you can make an activity as simple or as challenging as you wish.

So for our first challenge, we would simply like you to have a little play with them. We use Numicon in nursery already so your child may surprise you!

Next week I will be posting some ‘Numicon Challenge’ activities to support you.

Key worker children information

If your child is currently attending school because you are a key worker, please can you provide your child with sun cream to bring into school so they can apply it when needed. School staff have planned spending more time outside to make the most of the beautiful weather and social distancing easier for all staff and children.

Thursday’s phonics challenge

Today, I thought we’d get a little active!  Please could you help your child write the following letters on separate pieces of A4 (or similar) sized paper…

s a t p i n

When you have done this place them around the room and put some music on.  Encourage your child to dance around to the music and then when the music stops call a letter out and your child runs to it (a bit like musical chairs).  Repeat this with all of the letters.

Bring the letters back to the carpet or table together and explain that you are going to put some of them together to make words, can they help you read them?

For example, you could put p a t together, sound it out carefully by tapping your arm and then stroke the sounds together.  You could then swap out one of the letters and continue to make new words.  Your child, if they are feeling confident could make their own words up.  This is a great activity to use again another day, just chose different letters, enjoy!

Good morning nursery, another sunny day for us!

We have received some wonderful photos from parents and carers, thank you for keeping in touch with us. The parent interaction through the Evidence Me app and our Facebook page enables us to continue to build profiles and work on wonderful next steps for your children. We also love to see them to simply know that you are all safe and well 🌈
