World Book Day in Year 1 📚

We have had a fantastic time today; sharing our costumes and favourite stories with our friends, describing our characters and listening to lots of lovely stories! We even met up with Year 5 to do some buddy reading. 🙂 📘

Shropshire Schools Sport Festival- Hockey and Gymnastics

The hockey team did a fantastic job of representing Telford and Wrekin and the Shropshire School Games. They won all 5 of their games comfortably and went on to the final. The end score of the final was 1-1 forcing the game to go to penalty shuffles. We tried our best but were pipped to the post by Prestfelde School.

The gymnastics team did a fantastic job of representing Telford and Wrekin and the Shropshire School Games. The team had to perform a body management routine, a floor routine then on the vault. Newdale came 3rd overall.

Year 1 World Book Day

Wow! The costumes looked amazing today, so thank you for the huge effort at home. The children have been having a lovely morning sharing books, writing character descriptions, playing “Guess the book” and talking about who they like to read with.

Sports Relief – Friday 13th March 2020

On Friday 13th March we are excited to be supporting Sports Relief.

We are holding a mini event for a few children, along with three schools on The Wrekin.  If your child has been selected you will receive a letter with further information.

For the rest of the school and nursery, we are inviting children to dress in sports wear for a donation.

During the day we will be holding various fun sports events for the children and adults to take part in. Events will include a 1k run, inflatable goals in the hall, ‘stop everything and dance’ along with extra sport lessons.

We know your children enjoy the events we have planned!

Thank you for your continued support.

Year 1 Food Tasting

As part of our British values week, year 1 took part in an Indian food tasting session! They sampled samosa, bhaji, naan bread, mango chutney to name but a few. The children really enjoyed the session finding new foods really tasty. Which was your favourite?

A big thank you to Guransh’s mum for preparing some of the most delicious dishes.

Year 1 Eatwell Project

Year 1 took part in the Eatwell Project last week, baking delicious carrot cake muffins! 🥕

The children loved the experience and will hopefully be able to repeat at home to share their skills.

Eatwell Project Baking

Last week, Year 1 pupils all took part in their Eatwell Project and baked healthy carrot cake muffins. The children loved having the opportunity to practise their cooking skills and were encouraged to have a go at measuring, grating, mixing etc. There is a photo of the recipe here. Could your child ‘teach’ you how to make these healthy muffins at home? We would love to see photos of your baking in class or on the blog.

Year 1 World Book Day!

We are looking forward to seeing you in your costumes or pyjamas for World Book Day celebrations tomorrow.

You are welcome to bring in your favourite book (or the one perhaps your costume is based on) to read in class tomorrow. Please make sure it is clearly named so we can make sure your book returns home safely.
