Nursery phonics

Every day in nursery we focus on phonics. If you are able to, please can you help your child to read and write the letter “o”.  This has to be written from the top in an anti clockwise direction.  Please ensure that your child is holding their pencil as you would in a tripod grip. Children naturally hold pencils in their fist which can be a tricky habit to move on from.  To make the activity more fun please feel free to use felt tip pens, paint brushes (a no mess version is to use water with a brush on the pavement), shaving foam, playdough and so on.  If your child is more able the could find objects around the home with the sound “o” in them and even record what they have found.  We look forward to your responses via evidence me.

Have fun

Home learning

Morning everyone,

Unfortunately, as nursery is currently unable to open we are only able to offer online learning.  Can your first step in supporting your child’s education today please be to check their next steps on evidence me.  This may be a next step or a next step objective.  These will give you exactly what your child needs to do in order to make further progress.

Thank you

School Closure Tuesday 27th April 2021 – URGENT

We have been advised by Public Health England the school has to close today due to the plume of smoke that dropped overnight and the poor air quality.

We will update further today.

Fire Update 21/04/21

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you may know, a significant fire has broken out at a business local to school. Please rest assured, we are monitoring the situation and seeking all the relevant advice from the council.

As a precaution, we have all children within our school building and they are all happy and calm.

We know that the fire is being dealt with by the fire department.

Please follow normal timings when considering pick up, however if this changes, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Mighty oaks Wonderful Wednesday

As many of you know half of the Mighty oak children go to the Forest/Base camp on a Wednesday morning.  The other half of the class cook.  If it is your child’s turn to go to the woods please can you send appropriate clothing including wellies (named), leggings or trousers (in case of nettles) and clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.  Please can your child come to nursery wearing these clothes (apart from wellies which should be sent in a separate bag).  The following dates should be useful for helping you identify the weeks your child is heading to the woods…

Blue, green and yellow group on 5th May, 19th May

Purple, orange and red group on 28th April, 12th May, 26th May

Thank you for your support.

Life Learning Parent Voice Summer 2021

At Newdale, we are passionate about ensuring that our children are well equipped for the world outside of Newdale. In order to do so, we provide opportunities for children to learn life skills and knowledge in an age-appropriate way. To support us with our curriculum offer, we would value your views on these topics.

Each survey will be put into a prize draw and have the chance to win one of three £10 vouchers for Asda. Please return to your child’s class teacher by Friday 7th May 2021. Following the completion of these surveys, we will then create actions to make our school even better in ensuring all pupils are prepared for life in modern Britain.
