Internet safety day

We have talked about keeping safe on the internet today at nursery.  One of the useful tools we use is “Smarty the penguin” in which a character has to make good choices in a range of real life scenarios when using the internet.  I’d definitely recommend it for you to share again with your child again as this will help establish some safe practises.

Please use the link below and select the appropriate age group.

Chinese New Year celebrations

Yesterday the children in nursery took part in celebrating Chinese New Year. We talked about the story of the zodiac animals and how the Chinese celebrated this special time. We had fun making lanterns and trying to write in the Chinese way, it was very tricky! For snack the children enjoyed trying a range of foods, we had noodles, curry, sweet and sour dip with spring rolls, yummy 😋

Art day

What a fantastic response to our art day, we seen lots of magnificent art come through the evidence me app. It’s nice to see bright, beautiful paintings, they certainly did make me smile. I love how everyone has chosen to do something different using different mediums and materials, really caught my eye! Some very proud faces on here displaying their wonderful creations for all to see. Keep them coming. 👨🏼‍🎨🧑🏾‍🎨

As most of you are aware now nursery is only open to a hand full of children. For those that have been contacted to stay at home we don’t want you to miss out, Mrs Curnow will be posting daily activities until the 11th on google classroom at 9:30 and a home story at 2:30 (these are recorded so you can access them all day)

Please do not hesitate to call or message us if you need any help or have any questions or queries.

Thank you again Mrs Giordano and all the team.

Mighty Oaks/ Ladybugs information

Good Morning,

We are pleased to tell you that our Mighty Oaks room  will reopen tomorrow (Tue 9th Feb) for all Mighty Oaks children.   Unfortunately our Breakfast and After School sessions will not be running,  opening times are 8.30am  – 3.20pm.  Sessions will return to normal after the half term break.

We are looking forward to welcoming all our Ladybugs children back after the Nursery half term break on (Mon 22nd Feb).

Kind regards

Message from Miss Cook

Clarification 6.2.21

Dear Nursey Parents,

As I hope you have heard, we are having to shut the entire nursery on Monday to children and staff.

All children in the 2 year old provision (Ladybugs) need to self isolate as we have had a number of staff unfortunately test positive for the virus. Someone from school will contact you on Monday with more details.

All children in our 3 year old provision (Mighty Oaks) need to remain off on Monday (many conclude their self isolation period at midnight on Monday). It is likely that some children in this room will be welcomed back on Tuesday after their self isolation period has ended. We need to spend time looking at direct contacts of the positive cases and making sure we have enough staff available to fully open this room.

We know this is a complete inconvenience for many parents and we do apologise. Our nursery is having a run of bad luck. Thankfully our twice weekly testing is helping identify staff rapidly, so we can take action and hopefully avoid any further spread. Both rooms will undergo a thorough clean on Monday.

We recommend you getting a test for your own peace of mind, even if no one in your family is displaying symptoms.

As I say, someone will call you on Monday to give you further details. Let’s hope this is the last hurdle we have to jump before things get back to normal.

Art day

On Monday 8th February the whole school is taking part in an art day.  For those of you at home on Monday you might like to join in  by making a handprint.  We are going to make a handprint in nursery using paint and then decorate them when they are dry.  You could perhaps make a handprint i the same way or by drawing around their hand.  They could decorate it using different textures or colours.  Your child could stick on dried pasta, fabric scraps, wool, glitter, old bits of wrapping paper or anything you can find.  This is a really good opportunity for your child to practise their scissor skills and discuss the textures and colours that they like.  Perhaps they could send their handprint to a grandparent stuck onto a card with a kind message written inside?

Please share any art that you do create via evidence me, we’d love to see.

ART DAY Monday 8th February

A reminder that Monday (8th February) is ART DAY at Newdale!  🎨

Your class teachers will have already sent you the options of things to take part in for this day, so we hope you have had a look and selected which creative activities you would most like to do! We can’t wait to see them.

Don’t forget that one option was the handprint art, along with Grandparent handprints and that you may even like to host your own virtual/telephone tea-party with grandparents this week.

If your child is in school on Monday, then they are welcome to bring in their Grandparent’s handprints (digital, posted outlines, etc) into school to complete in class. Please remember to name the back of them so we know which hands belong to who!

Have fun everybody 🤗
