Lady bugs home learning

Lady bugs are really concentrating on independent learning.

Their doing this by promoting the children to try things on their own first, with lots of praise and encouraging them as they do. The little things like trying to put their coat on and off, using cutlery to feed themselves and putting on and off their own shoes. Going to the toilet and washing their hands and getting their own things ready at home time.

Please share your photos through the evidence me app and your child’s key worker will place them into the correct area of objective to support their tracking.

Home learning support

In Mighty oaks nursery next week we are looking at the following non- negotiables to support literacy.

. We can listen and join in with stories.

This is a nice one for the children to be involved in story time at home by them recalling to you what happened in the story.

Do they recall the main characters?

Was they holding the book the right way up?

Did they want to turn the pages?

Looking at the pictures in the book, could they tell you what they think might be happening?

By looking at the characters faces, could they tell you if they are, happy, sad, angry?

. We can sometimes give meanings to the marks I make.

Get creative! This one is a great one simply get them to make makes with any resources you have at home, from colouring pens to flour, yes I said flour. Pour flour onto a surface and get them to make marks with their fingers. This can be used outside to with mud and sticks or at the moment take advantage of the ice and snow.

Can they tell you what they have drawn?

Can they tell you a story from their picture?

Then if you can send the photos through the evidence me app and your child’s key worker will add them to their profile.

PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTION: BALLOT PAPER

Dear Parent,

PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTION: BALLOT PAPER

The parents standing for election are listed on the ballot paper enclosed. Personal statements of the candidates are reproduced on the reverse of the ballot paper.

The number of parent governors to be elected is one. You should cast your vote by marking X in the box provided against the candidate(s) of your choice. Each parent has one vote for each vacancy irrespective of the number of children s/he has at the school. This means that in this election, you may vote for only one candidate. You may not cast more than one vote for the same candidate. Should you do so your ballot paper will have to be declared ‘spoiled’ and discounted.

The ballot paper (Form 5) should be returned to me via your child or by any other means you may prefer not later than 12 noon 12th January 2021. Any ballot papers received after this time cannot be counted.

A “Parent”, in relation to this election, includes anyone who is not a parent but who has parental responsibility for, or who has the care of, a registered pupil at the school.

Please find all information in the link below.

Parent Governor election letter Jan 2021

Welcome back

Well our new starters at Mighty Oaks and Lady Bugs have settled in wonderfully. We have enjoyed hearing about their Christmas holidays and all the exciting things they got up to at home.

Just to clarify Mighty Oaks and lady bugs are open as usual for all those that normally attend.

Message from Miss Cook

Despite all of the media confusion, we are still on track for full reopening on Tuesday 5th January.  Teachers are in on Monday 4th January carrying out our pre planned training day and getting ready to welcome back your children.

Please note all procedures concerning preventing the spread of the virus, remain in place until further notice.  See you on Tuesday!

Merry Christmas

Well we have come to the end of a very challenging term but your children have exceeded our expectations and risen to every obstacle that has come their way.

We have made sure the children have had every opportunity to celebrate special occasions and kept their learning consistent to which they have amazed us in all areas of learning.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support and kind words through this tricky term.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and happy new year from all the team at Newdale nursery.

Last letter of 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

We would firstly like to thank you for all of the support we have had over this tricky period. It has not been easy and despite our best efforts, we have had to deal with a very small number of cases in school this term. Our number of cases is relatively few in comparison to many other schools and we know that our partnership working with you, the Health Protection Hub, the Local Authority along with our strict procedures have helped to keep this figure so low.

Should your child(ren) develop symptoms or have a positive test on either Friday 18th, Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th December then you MUST let us know. Could you please do this by using the following email address newdale.primary@taw.org.uk, this will be monitored over that period by two members of staff who remain on call or alternatively calling the school office on 01952 387720.  The school number will be diverted until 6.00pm on 24th December.  Please only call this number to report symptoms or a positive test and not for general enquiries.

If your child(ren) develops symptoms or tests positive outside of this time period (Monday 21st December onwards) then please use the NHS Track and Trace system and you do not need to let us know, unless they are continuing to self-isolate once we return on 5th  January. This is because it will have been longer than 48 hours since they were in school and will therefore, not affect any other staff or students. Please note as of Monday 14th December, the isolation period is only 10 days.

Thank you for your continued support with this and I sincerely hope it will not be needed for any family over the festive period. I hope you all have a well-earned rest and have the opportunity to spend it with loved ones.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of the staff at Newdale primary School and Nursery. We look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 5th January 2021.

Miss Cook
