Art Day

This year’s Art Day will be held on Friday 12th July. Children are once again being invited to “dress to express” in their most creative costumes but please bear in mind that there may be some messy activities! We will be working in house groups to create some fantastic pieces of art using recycled objects and your child’s teacher will let you know if they need donations of particular materials for their activities. In addition to this, we need lots (and lots!) of Tetrapak or Pure-Pak cartons for a very exciting printing project with Ironbridge Fine Arts. These cartons often contain fruit juice, oat or almond milk, coconut water, toddler formula etc. We would be very grateful for any clean, dry cartons that you can send into school. Thank you for your support.

Reception French Day Information

On Friday 5th July there will be a whole school French day for pupils from Nursery to Year 6.

Pupils can come into school dressed in red, white and blue or even create a costume inspired by a famous French landmark. Please participate as low-key as you would like (e.g reuse your white tops from our recent Macmillan event, or through hair ribbons etc.)

Throughout the day there will be various activities for the children to participate in, including our very own Reception ‘tour de France’ and learning the cancan dance! 😊 We will of course learn a little basic French in class too.

There will also be the option to have a French themed dinner which consists of quiche, ratatouille, and chocolate mousse, alongside the normal fish and chips which will be served.

If you would like to make a voluntary contribution of £2.00 to support the resources on the day, please log into parent pay.

Thank you for your continued support.

Lunch for Reception children on Wednesday 3rd July

On Wednesday 3rd July, Year 1-6 will be completing their Wrekin walk for MacMillan.

Due to a number of our catering staff attending the event, a hot meal option will not be available on this day.

Reception children will be required for this day only to either bring sandwiches from home or order either a ham or cheese sandwich from school.

In order for the kitchen to prepare for this, parents need to log on to ParentPay to confirm what your child will be having for lunch that day, either school or home sandwiches.

Please can we ask for you to complete this on ParentPay by Friday 28th June. The item on ParentPay is titled ‘Reception lunch order 3rd July’

Thank you

Message to parents regarding the activity out of hours

We are writing to inform you of some recent activity that has happened, out of hours on our site.

We believe at this stage that it is probably young people trying to find something to do. Even so, it is important that our site remains private during the evenings and weekends whenever the school and nursery are closed.

We are kindly asking parents/ carers who live locally to the school to support us by keeping an eye out and reporting any usual or suspicious activity around the nursery premises especially when school is closed.

School have already reported our concerns to the local police and the business watch security teams.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Staffing changes

Dear Parents/Carers,

Schools seem to go through cycles when it comes to staff staying or moving on to new positions. It appears that it is our turn to have more staff alterations than is usual.

As you already know Mrs Thomas is leaving to undertake a promoted post from September.

It is with sadness that I must inform you that both Mrs Arthurs (Year 6) and Miss Jones (Year 6) will also be leaving us at the end of the year.

Mrs Arthurs and Miss Jones have contributed so much to our school and of course will be sadly missed by everyone.

I know you will join me in wishing them the very best of luck.

We have already put plans in place to ensure continued stability when they leave.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Careers Day photos

After a fantastic careers day on the 14th June we are sending career day photos to the kind volunteers who came in. This would only be for children whom we have photo permission for. If you would rather not have your child in any of the photos sent, please let the office know by Friday 28th June.

Curriculum Governors Involvement

Governors enjoyed listening to the children enthusiastically talking about their experiences during Healthy Lifestyles Week. Governors were impressed by the recount from the curriculum lead, explaining the developments across foundation subject assessment. This was evident whenever the Art and EYFS subject lead confidently discussed their areas of expertise.

EYFS Macmillan Event Information

You will have seen the letter sent out recently regarding ‘Climb Against Cancer: Newdale walk up the Wrekin to raise money for Macmillan’, with details of how you can support this cause through sponsorship on our justgiving page.

On Tuesday 25th June, our very youngest pupils in Nursery and Reception will be taking part in a sponsored walk along a specially planned route around the school grounds. They will use our sports pitches and the play areas to form the shape of a heart to symbolise the love and support we all feel towards those affected by cancer, followed by ten laps around the sports pitch!

In line with the rest of the school, we would like children to come dressed in the chosen colours to represent the event.

Please can children come dressed in:

RECEPTION –  WHITE TOP

NURSERY – RED TOP

We do have a small amount of school sports bibs should anyone need support.

We look forward to EYFS taking part and will be sure to share lots of photographs. Thank you for your continued support.
