Update 21.9.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are enjoying this late in the season sunshine. I know the children are loving being outside and many are making great use of our new sports facilities!

In comparison to many schools we are coping well, by way of the number of positive cases we have. That said, we are definitely seeing an increase.

It is so important that you do not send your children into school if they are displaying any symptoms, including any of the precautionary symptoms listed by Telford and Wrekin Council. (Please see the following link Do you have main COVID-19 symptoms or other symptoms? – Do you have main COVID-19 symptoms or other symptoms? – Telford & Wrekin Council ) You need to keep them at home and get them PCR tested before risking a spread of the infection in school please.

If your child tests positive you need to make sure you inform the school as we also have to inform the health hub.  This is so that we can plan what actions to take in school.

We really do need to work together on this to prevent us having to reintroduce some of the more rigid procedures again.

Kind regards and fingers crossed,

Reception Forest School 🍁

Today was our first session out in the forest area. We had a lovely time in the beautiful weather, exploring the area and playing with friends.

Reception Forest School Fun

Today we had our first session at Forest School. We recapped the safety rules and had lots of fun exploring with our new friends.

Reception Baseline Assessments

We are really pleased with how well everyone has settled in at school! Everyone is working so hard already.

At the beginning of Reception, as we get to know your child, we will be carrying out an assessment with them, to ensure we recognise their strengths and areas we can help them develop over the year. These assessments are informal and carried out 1:1 with us. We look at a range of activities, including Speaking and Listening, Literacy and Maths skills using lovely resources such as toy bears, pictures, cards and shapes.

We wanted to ensure you are aware of these assessments that are expected to be carried out in the first six weeks of term (which happen in every school) and may also like to read the information booklet attached from the Standards and Testing agency.

Star of the week 💫

A huge well done to all children in Reception for a wonderful first full week in school. You are all settling in so well. A certificate has been awarded to each of you because we are so proud. 🌟

Each week we pick a star of the week for something special. This weeks star in our class is Harry. He has been our star for working so hard, following our smart code and doing his best as we learn how everything works in big school. We are really proud.

New house names

Now we are all back to school, we have decided to have a look at the house system that we have in place. Mrs Clarke and Mrs Everall do a fantastic job of assigning the children into each of the houses and making sure that all the house points that are awarded are counted up.

We are delighted to share with you that we have decided to help our children to know more about where we live and so, our houses have new names. The colours will remain the same but the new names are –

Severn (This was the Phoenix and will remain red)

Ironbridge (This was Dragon and will remain green)

Wenlock (This was Griffin and will remain yellow)

Wrekin (This was Unicorn and will remain blue)

We know it will take a little while to get used to the names, but we are hoping that by sports day, we will all have had enough practice to cheer on the correct team names!

Entrance to school off Rock Road

A reminder for parents/carers, the entrance to school off the Rock Road through our electronic gates is for STAFF only and is not to be used as a route into school to drop children off. There is also no pedestrian access allowed through this gate. Thank you for your co-operation.
