Year 1 Home Learning Tuesday 2nd June 2020

Hello Year 1!

Here are today’s activities.

Phonics – This week’s spellings are our Jumping orange words. Can you practise your beautiful handwriting and put your words into sentences?

Literacy – Today’s task can be found on BBC Bitesize and looks at writing command sentences. Head over to the BBC website where you will find some activities to complete. There are some helpful videos to watch to support your learning and under the videos you will find some fun activities to put into practise what you have learnt.

I am really looking forward to seeing your work on the homework blog or you can continue to send via our year 1 email if preferred.

Maths – Today’s Maths activity is a continuation of the White Rose and BBC Bitesize work . Head over to the BBC Bitesize website via the same link used for the Literacy above to find today’s task about Capacity and Volume. Again, there are some wonderful clips and advise for parents to share and then a supporting worksheet is on the website to practise your new skills. We are aware that some of the suggested follow on activities on the BBC website are similar to those that Miss McCullagh has previously set. Therefore here is an alternative for a Mass lesson from White Rose. There is a video (Lesson 2) and supporting worksheets attached if you would prefer.

Afternoon activities – This week’s theme is History.  I know how much you enjoy History lessons in school so it would be great to see what you can do at home. Here are some ideas:

When you complete an activity please upload them to the Year 1 homework blog for us all to see. I know you may feel like there have been so many posts, you wonder whether to still keep uploading them, but I assure you we are loving seeing you and your work at home so please do keep them up.

As a little tip, for those of you feeling particularly studious, each day on the BBC Bitesize page alongside the Literacy and Maths, you will also find a daily foundation subject you may like to complete. This isn’t expected but you may find these additional lessons fun as well as educational.

I look forward to seeing your work,

From Miss Hailey.

Here are today’s activities.

Phonics – This week’s spellings are our Jumping orange words. These are our year one National Curriculum words. I sent these out just before the holidays, but here is a fresh copy should you need it.

Welcome Back Year 1!

Hello Year 1!

We hope you have had a wonderful half term in this glorious weather.

You may be aware that some children in Year 1 are able to return to school on Monday 1st June. However, not all children are able to return at this time. Not to worry if this is the case, as I will continue to post Home Learning activities for Year 1 on the school website so you can continue your amazing work regardless.

Please do keep sending in your work on the blog. We really do love to see your smiley faces and the great things you have been up to. Miss McCullagh is going to busy teaching the children of Y1 that have returned, so if you are one of the children or parents of those still at home, and have any questions, then please contact me via our year 1 email account. It is still the same year 1 address as before but please be aware if you are in Miss McCullagh’s class, it may be myself who responds. You can still also contact me through the PurpleMash 2email accounts.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I look forward to hearing from you all next week.

Miss Hailey :)

Happy Half-Term Year 1 😎😎

We have reached the end of another half-term and the Year 1 team couldn’t be prouder of all your tremendous work at home! We love to hear all about what you are getting up to at home and you really have made us smile everyday! 🙂🙂 We think that you all deserve a well-earned break over the next week so we want you to spend as much time as possible having fun and playing games with your families! Year 1 Stars this Week…

The end of another fantastic week of Home Learning means time to select our Year 1 stars again! This week we have looked particularly closely on the fabulous work being completed on PurpleMash and you continue to make us very proud with your efforts.

Here are our star certificates for children nominated this week…

Congratulations to you all! Have a lovely half term!

Miss Hailey and Miss McCullagh :)

Let’s share a story!

I came across ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ by Dr. Seuss the other day and wanted to share it with you all in the hope you like it just as much as I do. Did you know this rhyming book uses only 50 words and 49 of them have only 1 syllable! The only exception is “anywhere”. Press here to listen to the story…

Year 1 Spellings

Here are new spellings to practise, following this week’s spelling test.

All children in Y1 have the same spellings this week as they will be practising Summer 1 Jumping Orange words. Jumping Orange words are the words your child should know in line with their year group that were sent out at the beginning of the year. Your child will be tested on these after the half term break on Friday 29th May 2020.
