Maternity Cover Year 3

Dear Parents/Carers of children in Mrs Churm’s class,

As you know, Mrs Churm will soon be going on Maternity leave (before Easter).

We have been working very hard to ensure the best possible cover for Mrs Churm’s class whilst she is not in school. We have never been a fan of the unknown nature of supply teachers and where possible always try to cover absence with known school staff.

We are lucky in that we have managed to find the flexibility in staff, in order to cover this absence internally.

Mrs Millington, who currently works as a Higher-Level Teaching (HLTA) has qualified teacher status and knows the children in this class really well. Mrs Millington has previously successfully stepped up into a teaching role to cover maternity leave and thankfully has agreed to do this again. This will give the children that familiar adult and consistency. Mrs Horler will be in class full time as normal. Mrs Millington will be working closely with the Year 3 team between now and the date that Mrs Churm leaves, so as to ensure the smoothest of transitions.

I know you will all join me in wishing Mrs Churm the best of luck.

If you have any queries, I know that Mrs Churm will be more than happy to answer them when you talk to her during your parents evening appointment.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Headteacher

Year 3 Experience Christmas

Today Year 3 went to Telford minster Church for Experience Christmas and were able to experience how light and dark is used throughout the Christmas story and link Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem to their own journeys in life. We also has the opportunity to visit Southwater library and learn how it work and have a story with one of their staff members.

Behaviour

At Newdale, we pride ourselves on our calm and orderly environment which enables our pupils to learn effectively. Our ‘BeSMART code’ is the backbone to our behaviour system and we believe that a positive approach is the key to good behaviour. We want to support our pupils in developing a sense of pride in their efforts; both with their learning and with their behaviour.  We reward positive behaviour, for example with stickers, house points and gold cards. Please ask your children about this at home so that you can further celebrate this together. Please see the attached document for more information about Newdale’s behaviour system and how you can use our systems to support behaviour at home too!
