Entry and exit points

If your child has a confirmed place at school, please can they enter and exit via the steps by Miss Cook’s office. Mr Jackson’s class use this as their entry and exit point already but my children will need to start to please.

Thanks

Y4 Important Information about Home Learning

On Wednesday, we will be delivering two live Teams lessons for you to access at home. The first will be Maths at 9:30am. This will be a session about statistics. The next lesson will be at 11am, which will be Literacy. (Please note that these timings will be the same each day).

Your child will receive an invite later on for these sessions; however if your child does not, you can ‘join’ the meeting through the Teams app. The invite is sent via email, so your child will need to log into Outlook if they haven’t done so already.

Children will need paper and a pen handy for the session.

Following the lesson, please visit Google Classrooms to access the task for each lesson.

If your child is unable to attend these two live lessons, we will post a recording of it shortly afterwards. Please ensure you check the website and Google Classrooms for regular updates.

Additional work will be posted on Google Classrooms such as spellings, Guided Reading etc.

Please ensure that your child’s microphone is muted when they join the lesson.

Any questions, please email newdale.year4team@taw.org.uk

Many thanks

Update 5.01.21

Good morning,

Many staff working in our school have children of their own and therefore can completely sympathise with you this morning. We know that the last minute decision by the Government will undoubtedly cause mass disruption on so many levels. Many schools have closed their doors today in order to plan for the forthcoming weeks. We worked very late into the night in order to be able to at least allow some of our critical, key workers access to school places for their children, so that they can go to work to support us all. As you know, it is so important that everyone supports each other over this difficult time.

We understand that some people may have missed the communication that we sent more or less immediately after the announcement last night and we will look at what further we can offer later on today after we have processed the applications we have already received.

Please help us by not turning up for school if you are in anyway unsure as to if your child qualifies for a place. We are only able to accept certain children as per the guidance and only children that we have received a form from at this point. A ‘lock down’ is a ‘lock down’, and we need to only have children in school whose parents really do qualify as key workers please. Please also only take up the place if you really need it e.g. shift work patterns may mean you can in fact safely keep you child at home. Please do not be offended if we ask for proof of key worker status and even ask for shift patterns so that we can plan accordingly.

School staff will be contacting parents of children who we believe qualify for places who have not yet been in touch. Please wait for communication from school and access the online learning offer for your child today.

If you are struggling with accessing the online offer, please contact either the office or your child’s teacher through their email contact.

Again, thank you for all of your support.

Good Evening,

Tomorrow we will be arranging a Teams videocall with the Y4 children. This will be an opportunity for children to log into Teams and for teachers to share information with them about how our ‘live’ lessons will work.

In the morning, children will receive a Teams invite via their email address (their Google Classroom email). The Teams meeting will be at 1:15pm.

In the meantime, please log into Google Classroom for work to be completed tomorrow.

Additional information will be sent out about about when our daily live lessons will be on Wednesday and the rest of the week.

Y4 Information

If your child is self-isolating, there are many ways you can support them at home. Children can:

  • Practise  weekly spellings
  • Log into Times Table Rockstars or alternative websites to practise times tables.
  • Read daily. Visit Oxford Owl for free access to age-appropriate books (these match our colour-banded system) or Fiction Express.
  • Visit Google Classrooms and complete any work set

Any questions, please email us on: newdale.year4team@taw.org.uk.

Welcome Back

Welcome back Year 4.

Happy New Year!

We hope that you have had a lovely time off.

Just a couple of reminders about this half term.

PE Days: Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child comes into school wearing their PE kit on these days.

Due to the wintery conditions, please make sure that your child comes to school with a jumper/cardigan/fleece and a warm coat.

Please also ensure that your child has a named water bottle in school.

If your child is having to self-isolate, please log on to their Google Classroom for more information about their home learning. Logins can be found in your child’s diary.

If you need to communicate with us in Year 4, please email us directly using newdale.year4team@taw.org.uk.

Many thanks

Last letter of 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

We would firstly like to thank you for all of the support we have had over this tricky period. It has not been easy and despite our best efforts, we have had to deal with a very small number of cases in school this term. Our number of cases is relatively few in comparison to many other schools and we know that our partnership working with you, the Health Protection Hub, the Local Authority along with our strict procedures have helped to keep this figure so low.

Should your child(ren) develop symptoms or have a positive test on either Friday 18th, Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th December then you MUST let us know. Could you please do this by using the following email address newdale.primary@taw.org.uk, this will be monitored over that period by two members of staff who remain on call or alternatively calling the school office on 01952 387720.  The school number will be diverted until 6.00pm on 24th December.  Please only call this number to report symptoms or a positive test and not for general enquiries.

If your child(ren) develops symptoms or tests positive outside of this time period (Monday 21st December onwards) then please use the NHS Track and Trace system and you do not need to let us know, unless they are continuing to self-isolate once we return on 5th  January. This is because it will have been longer than 48 hours since they were in school and will therefore, not affect any other staff or students. Please note as of Monday 14th December, the isolation period is only 10 days.

Thank you for your continued support with this and I sincerely hope it will not be needed for any family over the festive period. I hope you all have a well-earned rest and have the opportunity to spend it with loved ones.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of the staff at Newdale primary School and Nursery. We look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 5th January 2021.
