Curriculum governors involvement update

The Curriculum Committee of Governors met on Tuesday 23rd April. They had an in depth look at our PE offer (with Mr Bryant) and our Maths offer (with Miss McCullagh). They met with some very keen mathematicians from across the school, who loved showing off their maths books and telling Governors all about their lessons.

Governors went on to look at our Equality targets and where we are in achieving them by the end of the year. Governors were reassured to see that attendance was looking more positive.

Governors really value the committee meetings as they always include gathering the views of children and seeing firsthand the work they do. They also value having valuable time with subject leaders so they can gain a very clear understanding about curriculum intent and impact.

School Trips

Dear Parents / Carers,

We are passionate about the children experiencing education outside of the classroom which is why we put on so many exciting trips for all year groups throughout the year.

We are aware in this current cost of living crisis that money can be tight and we do not want to put unnecessary hardship on our families.  With this in mind we have always heavily subsidised all of our school trips for all of our families. Those families in receipt of free school meals or pupil premium also have a further subsidy to support them.

School funds are constantly monitored and we have looked at all our parent contributions for school trips since September 2023. Unfortunately, we have found that less parents than usual are paying for their child to attend a school trip. As I’m sure you can appreciate, we do not have the funds to continue subsidising to the extent we do, but still want to offer valuable experiences for all of our children.

If you are worried about funding any school trips please do speak to one of our team, teacher, pastoral or office.  We will not exclude any child whose parents cannot afford for them to go on a school trip,  but we may have to look at either how many trips are offered in the future or charging more for each trip should this concern continue.

Many thanks for your on-going support.

Miss Cook

Message from Miss Cook

Dear Parents/Carers,

No one can quite believe that we are already on the brink of the Easter Holidays. This term has zoomed by.

It certainly has been action packed with many exciting things planned for the children.

Teachers have been very busy mapping out the summer term. We really do hope that the weather is kind to us, as many events during the summer are outside.

From all of the teams at Newdale, we wish you a happy Easter and look forward to welcoming your children back next term.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook
