Harry Potter trip Y5

Harry Potter is fast approaching, and we can now update you with the details.  Children are required to be in school at 7.10am, please meet by the main school playground gates where a member of staff will be waiting.  Please ensure your child has a packed lunch and a few extra snacks to eat throughout the day in a carrier bag so this can be thrown away after lunch and a drinks bottle (if your child is eligible for free school meals and you have ordered via ParentPay this will be provided for you).  We will be leaving Harry Potter World at 2.30pm and aim to return back to school at 6.45pm after eating their Burger King.

Reception World Book Day

Today we celebrated our annual World Book Day.

We had such a great day. Thank you to everyone for providing wonderful costumes. We enjoyed a class costume parade, took part in a ‘name that book’ quiz, scoring the top score of ten points! We had a book hunt, a very special assembly and enjoyed lots of stories. We also enjoyed our book swap session. A packed day of celebrating books.

Parent’s Evening Week

3.3.23

Dear Parent/Carers,

Many of you have already booked in your parents evening appointments.

These meetings are key, as they ensure that as parents, you are up to date on where your child is at with their learning and what you can do at home to support further progress. You are welcome to spend time before and after your consultation to look through your child’s books.

Please note however that all our classes are full or over full and therefore teachers have to be quite strict on timings. Each appointment is 10 minutes long (which is in line with all other schools). If you feel you really do need more time after this 10-minute slot you would need to arrange another meeting at a different time.

If possible, please leave pushchairs and siblings who do not attend Newdale at home. As you know, we have narrow corridors and very limited space. Please also only attend appointments for your own children. We have a duty around data protection, and it can put teachers into an awkward situation if someone is present who is not a direct family member.

Many thanks for your support,

Miss Cook

World Book Day Fun in Year 2!

What a wonderful sight!

We loved everyone’s efforts today for World Book Day! We think the grown ups loved dressing up more than the children! Miss Honey, Ms Trunchball, Matilda, Amanda Thrip and Lavender from Roald Dahl’s Matilda were so impressed with the children’s love of reading and creative writing today :)

Year 1 – BH World Book Day

We LOVED dressing up for World Book Day today!
It was fantastic to learn about lots of different characters and all the great books they are from. Can you work out who everyone is?

We got to share our books and read them to each other. It was lots of fun!

We also enjoyed reading Hairy Maclary as a class and completed some fabulous writing using ‘and to extend our sentence.

Mother’s day stay and play

We are really excited to be holding a stay and play session on Thursday 16th March.  If your child attends on Thursdays, mums or nannies are invited to drop in at 8.30 or 12.20 for a short activity with your child.  We are hoping to decorate a gift and card ready for mother’s day, this will take approximately 30 minutes.  We’re really looking forward to seeing you.  Please don’t be concerned though if you are unable to attend as we will have lots of lovely activities for your child to take part in with their keyworker.

Comic Relief – updated message

Red Nose Day: Friday 17th March 2023

On Red Nose Day, children will be expected to wear their school uniform but they are allowed to wear a splash of red! This could be a red nose, red socks, red ribbons in hair, a red top etc. We will not be collecting monetary donations; however, if you would like to donate to the charity, please visit https://www.comicrelief.com/rednoseday or alternatively, you can purchase a red nose from a local supermarket. During this day, children will take part in a Red Nose Day activity and find out more about the work of the charity.
