Dropping off children outside school

We are seeing an increasing number of parents who are dropping their children off on the double yellow and zig zag lines outside school. Please can you refrain from doing this as it is causing traffic delays and could cause an accident as other motorists have to drive around the parked cars. This is something that has been noted by the Police when they attend site and they have been taking note of number plates when in attendance.

Thank you for your co-operation in making the entrance to school as safe as possible for the children.

Bug Club Online Reading

Hello Reception,

To continue with supporting reading at home as best we can, school has recently invested in a new online reading system called ‘Bug Club’. Your child will be familiar with some of these resources already as we have Bug Club reading books we use in school and also use some of their online resources in our phonics sessions. We will now be able to offer out individual logins to Bug Club online for you to access at home. This will include a whole bank of online reading books that you can access at home! We will be able to set books specifically for your child’s reading level, just as we would when we send real books home for you to read in the week! These books will be matched to the phonics that your child will be learning at school and also include fun activities or quizzes that will help develop your child’s understanding of what they have read.

We will stick in your child’s individual log in for their Bug Club membership in your child’s reading diaries so please remember to bring these in on Friday and we will send them home on Monday. A letter will also be sent out on Monday with details and instructions of how to log on and start using the website. We will continue to send home a hard copy of a reading book each week as we really do value real life books and promote a love of reading! However, as we are limited at the moment in being able to exchange books as regularly as we would normally, these colourful, decodable books will help your child keep reading a minimum of 3x a week with you and ensure they stay on track.

We hope you will find these fun and exciting! Any questions, please do ask.

Thank you for your support.

The Reception Team.

Bug Club Online

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our school has recently acquired a new online reading programme called Bug Club that we would like to share with you.

We use Bug Club in school and some of the reading books the children bring home are Bug Club along with some Oxford Owl texts.

With this new online resource all of the books are accessible online and each child has a personalised log in and website. Class teachers can set reading levels so the books are tailored to your children’s ability. There are also quizzes to check your child’s understanding of what they have read.

We hope you will enjoy using this scheme and encourage you to use it to meet your 3 or more reads a week :) .

I have attached the key information about the scheme below and we will be putting your child’s log in details in their reading diaries on Monday.

If you need any help or guidance please email the Year 1 account and we will happily assist.

Many thanks the Year 1 team.

Bug Club Reading

Please see the attached letter which details how to access Bug Club from home. The children have used this reading tool in school and should continue to use it at home to support their home reading (at least 3 times per week).

In short, children are able to read e-books at their level and earn coins towards personalising their homepage. Children earn coins by completing comprehension exercises which assess a range of reading skills.

Y4 Reading at Home- Please Read

Our school has recently acquired an online reading programme called Bug Club that we’d like to share with you.

What is Bug Club?

Bug Club is a finely-levelled reading scheme, which ensures that all children can find books at exactly the right level for them. We have many of these books in school already along with the Oxford books. However, with Bug Club, we are investing in the online versions for every printed title and a personalised website for each child.

Please encourage your child to use this resource and take part in the quizzes to check their understanding. They will be assigned books at their current reading band colour. Children’s logins can be found in their diaries.

Below you will find key information about the scheme and how you can get involved. We hope that you and your child will love these books and enjoy reading them at home.

Yr 6 Arthog Trip

Dear Parents/Carers

Unfortunately, the Yr 6 Arthog trip will no longer be able to go ahead.  With the restrictions in place, the centre will be unable to open on the dates we booked and no further dates are available.

The year 6 team hope that at some point in the Summer term, when restrictions have eased,  that we may be able to organise some Arthog outreach days for the children to enjoy.

Refunds will be made to your Parentpay accounts but this may take a few weeks for us to process.

We understand this is really disappointing for the children and only hope they get the ‘Arthog experience’ at some point during their secondary journey.

Kind regards,

Year 6 Team

Y4 Homework Changes- Please Read.

We will be gradually moving towards more digital homework over the next few weeks. You may have already seen the website post about spellings being on Google Classrooms rather than printed in diaries. In line with this, we have recently purchased an additional feature on Times Table Rockstars, which allows us to use the website to set and track homework. This will replace paper times table homework as of next week. Mr Bevan has assigned homework for this week on Times Table Rockstars as we transition from paper to digital (please note your child still has their paper times table homework too). Please encourage your child to log on to see what their homework task is.

Many thanks
