After this story you might want to explore containers being full, half full or empty.  Can your child notice if there bath water goes up or down?  Let us know how they get on using evidence me.

Maths Dice Challenge

I’m delighted to say that many of you were able to access google classroom yesterday for the end of day story.  I have set a new challenge for today that involves a dice.  Don’t worry if you don’t have a dice as there are online versions available.  Please click the link below to locate the activity, alternatively just go on to google classroom and enter your child’s email address and password if you have received one.

Have fun and don’t forget to let us know how your child get on using the evidence me app.

Snow!

Wow! I wasn’t expecting to see all the snow and ice this morning.  Your challenge for today is to go outside and explore the properties of snow and ice.  Some of the questions I would like you to ask include.  “Where do you think the snow came from?”  “What happens when you put it in your hand, why?”  If they notice the water on their hand can you ask them “Where did the water come from?”  They might be able to use the terms melt and freeze.  You could then ask the children “Can you think a way of making ice?”  You could then go on to make ice cubes or ice lollies.  Please keep this exploration fun and don’t forget to send in your child’s responses on evidence me we can’t wait to see them.

Year 2 Home Learning – Thursday 21st January

Hello Year 2! 😊

There will be two live lessons on Thursday, Maths at 9.30am (looking at a place value problem) and Science at 11am (looking at our new topic ‘Materials’).  You should have received an invite for this session however if not, then you can join the meeting through the Teams app. Please come to each meeting armed with paper and a pen to write.

Following the lesson, the worksheets below should be completed.  You do not need to print this sheet but the children will need to see it so they can work out their answers.  These worksheets are differentiated so please choose the correct one for your child.

Thursday Red and Orange (Maths)

Thursday Yellow, Green and Blue (Maths)

Science Blue

Science Red and Orange

Science Yellow and Green

Uses of Everyday Materials Photo Cards (for green, yellow, orange and red group only)

If you are unable to attend the live sessions, a recording of the lesson will always be available afterwards.  Worksheets and any further instructions will be shared via the website. We understand that this is tricky for some of you working from home, especially those with siblings so we understand that it is not always possible to join live. We hope the recordings help to support this.

Other home learning activities set for today:

Literacy – Can you create a rhyming word bank? We will use this when we are writing a rhyming poem tomorrow.  Complete the table, writing words that rhyme with the word at the top of each column.

Thursday Literacy Blue and Green

Thursday Literacy Yellow, Orange and Red

Spellings – our spellings for this week are words ending in ‘el’.  Please see Mrs Thomas’ website post for today’s activity.

Google classroom

Despite IT’s best efforts it looks unlikely that we will be up and running for Google classroom today, unfortunately it’s an issue that’s beyond our control.  Please keep your child’s login and email address safe as we will try again as soon as the issue is resolved.

So that you don’t miss out please click on the link below.

New critical worker/vulnerable child form – Monday 25th – Friday 29th January

Please complete the form below if your child is eligible for a school place during the current school closure. All applications will be reviewed and considered once the form has closed at 9.00am on Thursday 21st January.

Please note that the filling in of this form does not guarantee you a place.

A member of school staff will contact you Friday afternoon to inform you if we can safely offer your child/ren a place.  If we are unable to, we will support you in directing you to the remote learning offer we have in place.

All school staff would like to thank you for your unwavering support in these testing times.

Home Learning Feedback

Thank you to the Y4 parents who have completed this survey so far.

If you have yet to do so, please could you complete this survey as soon as possible as it is important that we know your thoughts on the online learning offer in Y4. As this is the first time we have used Google Classroom and Teams for live lessons, it would be interesting to know your views.

https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=2s8TOK9SpUy44yMVeXcKujfWR1zrUJ1JhQgacqv0-RBUQUcwTEc3ODlOMlhIMjEyRVVUTVFaVUwzTS4u

As with all surveys, we analyse them carefully to ensure we are continuing to improve our provision.

Many thanks

Forest School Session 28.01.21

Both of the Y4 bubbles in school will have a Forest School session on Thursday 28th January, which will be led by Miss Taylor. Miss Taylor is Forest School trained and will be carrying out exciting activities with the children such as fire making. Please feel rest assured that this will be carried out safely and will give the children a sense of what its like to sit around a campfire. Please ensure that children bring in their Forest School clothes on this day.  Please note that this is a PE day so children will still be expected to come into school in their PE kits.

Many thanks
