Christmas at Newdale

This year Mrs Christmas would love to come and visit our wonderful children and spread some Christmas magic to cheer everyone up after what has been a whirlwind year. The exciting thing about this year’s visit is that she will be bringing MR CHRISTMAS along too! Rudolph is sadly unavailable as he needs all the rest he can get before the big day.

Due to the current situation we are still planning carefully how we can offer this wonderful experience to your children, whilst keeping them safe. Watch out for more information closer to the time…………..

Children will be allowed to wear their Christmas jumpers on numerous occasions between now and the end of term – further information to follow.

Junk Modelling Week in Year 1

We have absolutely loved being builders and engineers this week. We had SO much recycling brought in from home so thank you very much! The children loved looking through all of the different shapes and materials we had. They thought carefully about what they needed and the best way to join them together. We were all very excited to bring our models home and share them with you! 🙂

Year 5&6 Star of the Week

Emma – Great work in our WW2 topic (Miss Clay)

Making Porridge 🥣

Today Reception had another Science day. We investigated how porridge changes state as we heat it. We also made predictions about where porridge might cool the fastest for the three Bears and Goldilocks, and why. We used data loggers to measure the temperature of the porridge in the different locations. Of course we then had to make porridge and taste it! 🥣 😋 🐻

Can you tell your family how you made it? Did you enjoy it? Maybe you can help make some tasty porridge at home for a warm Winter breakfast.

Parent/Carer Survey Autumn 2020

We would like to thank all of the parents in school and nursery who completed a parent survey this year. We were delighted to receive back over 250 surveys this year! Each survey has been read and we really value your thoughts and opinions. Once feedback has been discussed with all staff, we will share with you our next steps as a school.

The winners of the £50 Asda vouchers are:
Harley (Year 6)
Tiana (Year 1)
Coby (Ladybugs)

Vouchers will be given out by the end of the week.

Many thanks for taking the time to complete a survey, your views are important to us.

Remembrance Day in Year 1

Today, we learnt all about Remembrance Day and reflected on why it is such an important day. We all participated in a two minute silence and wrote sentences to answer quiz questions about Remembrance Day. We took part in our ‘11’ challenge by completing 11 laps of the bicycle track.

Update 11.11.20

Dear Parents/Carers,

Just a quick note to say ‘thank you’ for the efforts everyone is making to keep our site Covid free. We are delighted in the response we have had to the request for all parents to wear face coverings on our site.

As you will undoubtedly of heard, there are relatively high numbers of Covid in Telford and therefore we continue to operate strict hygiene and ‘bubble’ systems in school. Adult to adult transition holds the highest risk and with your help we are managing to keep everyone safe.

I continue to carefully analyse the advice we are given as schools and update our risk assessment accordingly.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

E-safety top tip – Fortnite

How well do you know the online game that your child is playing?

As adults and carers, it is your responsibility to know what your child could be experiencing whilst playing games online.

Fortnite is a popular survival action game where up to 100 live players can fight each other to be the last one standing. The game includes heavy violence and you can talk to other players using public, private and voice chat.

The official rating for this game is 12+, which means that your child should not be playing this game until they are in secondary school.

When they are old enough to play this game, there are parental controls that can be set.  For more information click here.
