Year 1 Home Learning

Hello Year 1 and welcome to another fantastic week of Home Learning!

This week’s Home Learning post will work slightly differently. I will be posting the whole week’s activities at the start of the week rather than daily (feedback suggests that people may find this helpful in preparing worksheets in advance.) Therefore, I will do 2 separate posts – one for Phonics and Literacy and another for Maths with the learning for the whole week on. I will break each subject down into days so it should still be easy to see what should be done each day. Any questions regarding this, then please contact me and I will be happy to help.

Friday Home Learning Stars!

Happy Friday everyone! A massive well done to all the home learners this week across KS1. I know getting back into gear after a half term holiday can be tricky, but I can see from the work sent in that  you have worked your socks off this week. I am so proud.

Today I will giving some ‘Shout Outs!’ to both Y1 and Y2 home learners. Because this is my first week of home learning for both year groups, I am having to be very greedy and mention lots of you! Here are some children who have made me smile this week…

Connor M who has completed every task set and gone above and beyond.

Lucas for excellent work all week and smashed his Mental Maths test today :)

Tori, who mum tells me has been doing wonderful reading and English at home. We knew you could do it Tori. You always work so hard.

Zachary for Literacy using exclamation marks.

Kayson for excellent Mental Maths and also for being so forgiving to his rabbit for eating the plants he was growing.

Max for absolutely amazing phonics word all week.

Finley for getting straight back into home learning and having a go at everything and more!

Louis for a great week all round!

Oliver for super independent work this week.

Both Niamh and Summer for a fantastic castle project.

Dylan for a fascinating butterfly experience.

Then to everyone in Y2 for their wonderful efforts and scores on your PurpleMash spelling quiz. No wonder your test results have been fabulous today.

I hope I haven’t missed anyone as I have been thoroughly impressed everyday by everyone.

Have a lovely, much deserved fun weekend.

Miss Hailey.

Year 1 Super Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

All of the adults in the Year 1 bubbles have been blown away by how well the children have come back to school this week! They have been extremely sensible and have tried their best with the activities in school. We are really looking forward to welcoming them back again next Monday….have a lovely well-deserved break everyone! 🙂

We would like to give a special shout-out to our stars of the week:

Harry –  for coming back to school with a fantastic, grown-up attitude.

Natalia – for settling into a different classroom with different children.

Hugo – for fantastic descriptive writing and some great Maths work.

Jessica-Lily – a fantastic week at school. You have worked really hard and you are always smiling.

Well done everyone! 🙂

What a fantastic first week back!

We have all loved our first week back and it has been great to see so many smiley faces! 😀 This week we settled in by working on a familiar text; Jack and the Beanstalk! 🌱 We even had a go at building our own beanstalks in a Lego challenge.

As a special treat for all of our hard work, we enjoyed some outdoor challenge time this afternoon. We are enjoying playing with our friends again!

Enjoy a well earned weekend Year 1!! 🙂

E-safety Top Tip!

Do you know enough about the apps that your children play on?

It is important that parents monitor what their children are using when they access the Internet, whether it is on a mobile phone, laptop or tablet.

The NSPCC have created a useful website called Net Aware, where you can easily search for apps to find out more about them.  The guide explains what the app is used for and also shares the official age rating for the app.

https://www.net-aware.org.uk/

This is a great tool to use to help your children to stay safe when using the Internet.

Year 6 Leavers T shirts

We have decided to offer leavers T-shirts to our Year 6’s similar to the example below.

The design includes children’s names on the back incorporated within the 20 logo.

The cost per T-shirt will be £6.70 and we have set up payment for this on Parentpay.

There is an extensive range of colours available, please refer direct to the website https://www.actifwear.co.uk/tshirts/kids-cotton-t-shirt-colours.aspx to make your choice.

Please ensure you add in the notes your choice of colour and size.  T shirts are available in:

XS    S    M    L    XL

To ensure the supplier has enough time to produce and deliver the T-shirts before the end of term, orders must be received  by Wednesday 10th June.  If you do not want to order a T-shirt but would like your child’s name included in the design, please call the school office on 01952 387720 before 12.00 on Wednesday

Kind regards
