The Great Fire of London 🔥

Year 1 began their new history topic today! We enjoyed acting out the disastrous event. We then started some fantastic fire art work. Here is a peak at painting in action. The final masterpiece will be completed next week!

Can your child tell you where the Great Fire of London started?

Message from Miss Cook

School opens at 8.40 a.m. We are noticing that lots of the older children are coming into school way before this time. As you know we don’t have staff supervising before the bell goes and therefore these children remain the responsibility of parents. Unfortunately, some of these children are not following our SMART code and we are concerned that someone may get hurt. Please can you monitor when your children leaves for school to avoid this from happening.

We have also had complaints from other parents (parent survey) about children kicking balls and riding bikes/scooters on the school site before and after school. Please can you ensure your child is supervised and pushes their bikes/scooters to avoid other children from getting hurt.

We open the gates before the bell goes, but that is not to say that children are permitted to play on the school equipment. We are very conscious of our Health and Safety requirements and don’t want unsupervised children getting hurt.

Many thanks for your support in these matters.

Miss Cook

Welcome Back Year 1!

We hope that you all had a lovely, restful Christmas break. We have had such a lovely start to the Spring term today! The children settled really well back into school life and it was wonderful to see them so eager to begin learning again.

Important Days for the Spring Term:

Tuesday – Forest School

Wednesday and Friday – PE  (however, if possible, PE kits should be in school all week in case of timetable changes).

Thank you,

Year 1 team :)

Share Aware Week- W/B: Tuesday 7th January 2020

We are writing this letter to inform you of a whole school learning project around keeping safe online. Over the week, we will be looking specifically at sharing information online using materials provided by the NSPCC. It is important that children are made aware that sometimes sharing online can be dangerous.

Across Year 5 and 6, we will be looking at how sharing information with just one person over social media, can quickly spiral out of control and allow many others to access this information. We will then talk about how this information can allow individuals to exploit your child.

We will be encouraging children to speak out to a trusted adult if they are ever unsure about something whilst online. If you wish to discuss the content of these sessions further, please talk to your child’s teacher.

Let’s Dine School Meals Competition

At Lets Dine we  are always working towards providing  healthy meal choices, supporting the reduction of  obesity in schools and supporting schools with their universal infant free school meal uptake as it’s a free meal. To promote this work we are  launching a school meals competition. All pupils in Reception to Year 6 classes (key stage 1and 2 only) which are catered by Let’s Dine are eligible to enter whether they are paid or free meals.

To enter the competition pupils will need to have a school meal (hot or cold) for 40 days between 13 January 2020 and 27 March 2020.

Prizes include:

  • 2 iPads
  • 2 family pantomime tickets
  • a family ice hockey ticket
  • a hamper
  • a skiing party ticket
  • a family foot golf/driving range ticket
  • 4 Sky Reach tickets
  • a book voucher
  • 2 Area 51 tickets.

Prizes will be randomly drawn. Winners will be invited to a prize drawing event where prizes will be drawn at random. The school where the lucky winner attends  will receive a free Eatwell session (a session where 8 children prepare fresh ingredients, make a dish using those ingredients and eat what they have made).

Entries will be recorded on a cashless system against pupil’s accounts when they have a meal. At the end of the competition the system will produce a list of pupil’s names who have had 40 or more school meals. These names will be entered in a random name generator.

Those schools that do not have a cashless system will be collated at site and the names added to the final list.

To enter the competition and for a chance to win an iPad entrants will need to have a school meal (hot or cold) for 40 days between 13 January 2020 and 27 March 2020.
