Nursery news

Well we’ve done it again! Fun, fun, fun but not so much sun this week. However this did not stop us from our learning and planned activities.

Red and purple group have been working really hard reading the tricky words and sentences given to them, as you can see by their little faces they’re very proud of themselves and rightly so! Amazing 😉

Orange and Blue group have had lots of fun experimenting and exploring this week. They made paper aeroplanes and then tested who’s traveled the furthest ✈️ their fun did not stop there as their trip to the woods for some outdoor learning looks great! Working together as a team and climbing trees 🌲

Then Green and Yellow group have been busy making things to go inside our Covid time Capsule. They have worked really hard on writing for these and that’s clear to see. ✍🏼

Our Covid time capsule is nearly ready to be buried. The children have loved taking part in this talking about how the virus effected them, their experiences and how the ares is going to change. They have took photos of the land that they can see from the garden with all the construction work going on. I have been amazed by them and their views of the virus and the world they live in. ❤️🌈

Nursery Activities Friday 3rd July

Good morning nursery, happy Friday!

These few weeks have flown by! We have two weeks left until the summer holidays begin which means two weeks left of suggested activities in the current format. We hope you have enjoyed them.

Today’s planning is the last of our ‘Growth Mindset’ theme. So, for Friday we are having a calm down. How about a little Yoga? See below for more details:

Take care, have a lovely weekend!

Nursery Mathematics Challenge Thursday 2nd July

Good afternoon nursery,

Today I thought you could have a little capacity challenge. For this activity you will need clear containers/jugs/ and water.

Activity:

The grown-up to model and fill one container with water using terms such as empty, half full and full. Children to explore.

Show three clear containers and demonstrate tipping and pouring into each other. Which contains more water? Less water? Middle sized one?

For an extra challenge:

Use two different sized containers, estimate which container will hold more water. Why will one container hold more than the other?

Nursery’s leavers party.

On Thursday the 16th all of nursery will be celebrating their leavers by having an end of term party 😊 🎉

If your children attend this date they are more than welcome to dress up ready to take part in the fun and games we will be having. I hear there might be a little treat for the best dancer.

We will be getting party food for the children to have as a little snack, so please don’t send your children in with food like we have asked and done in previous years.

Thank you all, let the celebrations begin.

Value of the Month- July

Thank you for all your support with the value of the month for June, which was Honesty. Throughout June, children learnt the importance of being truthful to others; being truthful to themselves; doing what’s right regardless of who’s around and being someone others can trust.

Our value of the month for July is Reflecting.

Providing opportunities for reflection is an important part of school and home life. It is important that children are given the chance to reflect upon their learning, school and life experiences.

What is Reflecting?

  1. To think carefully or deeply about something.
  2. To look at ways to make changes or improvements.

Suggestions for parents to work with children at home:

  1. Talk with your child about ‘reflecting’. Try to answer: ‘What does reflecting involve?’ Discuss some examples.
  2. As your child is approaching the end of this academic year, it is important that they reflect on all the positives and negatives they have encountered over the year. Discuss with your child what has gone well this year; have they met a certain challenge or target? What steps did they take to achieve it?
  3. Also discuss with your child what they feel they need to improve on. Perhaps it could be that they need to read regularly at home or have a positive attitude towards their work.
  4. Has something happened this year that they wish they had handled differently? Discuss with your child what they could do next time if faced with the same situation.

Please let your child’s teacher know if we can celebrate any work from home, in school. Feedback on the values and what you do at home is really valuable to us and we really appreciate all your support.

If you can support us in any way, please get in touch via the school office.
