Reminder – Comic Relief

Red Nose Day: Friday 17th March 2023

On Red Nose Day, children will be expected to wear their school uniform but they are allowed to wear a splash of red! This could be a red nose, red socks, red ribbons in hair, a red top etc. We will not be collecting monetary donations; however, if you would like to donate to the charity, please visit https://www.comicrelief.com/rednoseday or alternatively, you can purchase a red nose from a local supermarket. During this day, children will take part in a Red Nose Day activity and find out more about the work of the charity.

Easter Raffle 2023

We are holding an Easter Egg Raffle this year. The raffle will be drawn electrically using a random number generator on Wednesday 29th March. 50p per ticket (no paper tickets will be issued). You are able to purchase more than one ticket. The money raised from your kind raffle donations will be put towards exciting, new reading books for school including those won by our star readers each week in achievement assembly. Thank you to Magna for once again donating the very large chocolate Easter egg!

NSPCC Number Day 2023 🔢

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, Newdale Primary and Nursery School took part in the NSPCC Number Day 2023. Every pupil in school had a fun-filled Maths day and enjoyed lots of Maths stories as a spark for their learning. We raised £273 to support the wonderful work that the NSPCC does. Thank you for all of your donations and efforts with the exciting, number-themed costumes that the children were able to show off at school!

Please enjoy this video, show-casing some of the wonderful work that happened across the school 😊

Snow fun

Well it’s a great day for it ! ❄️☃️
We’d love to see your little adventures and fun in the snow today if you get any chance safely to go out.
Please send us your photos through the evidence me app, we love looking at them and sharing them with the children. These days are rare !
I’ve been out already and seen some of your playing, nice to see the age old bin bag is still being used for Sledging! 😂❄️
Please see images below for some fun activities for suggestions on play in and with the snow.
But most of all have fun !
See you on our return back Monday all being well
Thank you from all of our team.

Nursery physical activities to do at home

Good morning everyone

Please see below some images and links to get creative with your child at home and have some fun! Enjoy your day together ☺️

Snow day

Morning everyone!

As nursery is closed today we wanted to share some super snowy activities that you could take part in at home.  The first idea is to look for footprints in the snow, particularly footprints that different creatures may have made.  If you do find some, can you identify what might have made them?  Please follow the link for some support with this.  Your child’s keyworker would love to see any that you find using the evidence me app.  Happy hunting! https://pin.it/3XRsFfn

School and Nursery Closure – Friday 10th March

After a hair raising trip from Shrewsbury to Telford and a full site risk assessment with Mr Thomas, I have to make the decision to move to online learning today. Marlborough Way and Rock Road are treacherous and not at all safe. We have already had to rescue one person! I know the forecast is set to improve, but I don’t want an open then closed situation like yesterday as that is difficult for parents to plan around. I have let you know as early as possible. Teachers will be in touch. See you on Monday. Miss Cook.

Snow Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

Unfortunately, due to the worsening conditions on the car park and the roads leading to school, we are going to have to shut early. Marlborough Way and The Rock are proving very difficult indeed with many vehicles getting stuck.

We will run lunches from 11:30 until 1pm and at this point please can you carefully make your way to school to collect your children. If possible, please walk to the school rather than drive.

If your child normally walks home alone, you will still need to ring the school office or email your child’s year group email address before we will let them go. This is due to the extreme conditions.

We are shutting our main gate as our car park is not safe for traffic. The pedestrian gates will be open for you to collect your child from classroom doors as usual. However, please ensure you tread very carefully around the school site.

I have many staff who live some distance away from Telford and I need to ensure they have every opportunity to get home safely.

I can only apologise for the disruption. Like us, most schools across Telford have done their best to support working parents and remain open. We really hoped that the forecasts, which had indicated a more positive picture this morning were accurate, but unfortunately this has not been the case. Coupled with the steep nature of Rock Road and Marlborough Way, these factors have left us with little choice. Please keep an eye on the school website and Facebook page regarding tomorrow. You can also check the Telford and Wrekin closure page: Closures – School/Nursery Closures – Telford & Wrekin Council

Thank you for your understanding and please take care.
