Reception Key Messages

Children are invited to wear dress down clothes for comic relief on Friday (please see previous school notices for more information), therefore children will not need to wear PE kit on Friday and will not be required to bring it in.

Please could we ask parents and carers to check the school menu with their child (found on the homepage of our website) and discuss prior to coming in to school whether they would like a hot school dinner or school sandwiches that day. We have noticed that a number of children selecting school sandwiches in particular, are then reluctant to have the accompanying items with their sandwich, such as yoghurt, salad etc. We really do try to encourage them to eat enough for a busy day at school so deciding ahead and making them aware of what is on the menu is really helpful.

Thank you, The Reception team :)

Update 15.3.22

Dear Parents/Carers,

It was so lovely to see parents in our school building again yesterday for parents evening. We all know that face to face discussions are far more favourable to telephone calls and we plan to continue with this system moving forward.

Teachers have a very clear picture as to where your children are in their learning and the targets they need to work on in order to make the best possible progress. We know that parent input at home is key. We understand that work and family pressures can be a real obstacle in helping children at home. If nothing else, please find time to read to children and to let them read to you. The ability to read is the key to unlocking all other areas of learning and a huge priority in our school.

Covid is unfortunately not going away and despite the Government wanting us to ‘learn to live with Covid’ we are still suffering with significant staff absence due to infection and the rules we have to apply. Please help us by not allowing children to come into school if they are unwell with Covid symtoms. We are expecting an update on advice near the end of the month, as testing kits no longer remain free to acquire.

We are all excited about the rest of this year and firmly believe it can only get better with more and more events on offer for children and parents to enjoy. Fingers crossed!

Parent View Reminder

8.3.22

REMINDER We sent the following email in February and we are very grateful to the 20 parents who helped us out by filling it in. I promise it only takes a minute!  We would love it if we could get that figure to at least 50, which is why I’m sending you an email to request again please. Thankyou in advance.

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know, we regularly want to know your views about our school and we use these views to help us shape the way in which we provide a first-class education to your children. Every comment on the surveys that we send out to you is read and discussed thoroughly by the team.  Recently our School Improvement Adviser congratulated us on how well we consult with children and parents.

OFSTED also want to know what you think about our school. They do this by asking you to complete Parent View online. This questionnaire captures your views prior to an inspection, but it can also be used by us to see what you think about our school at any point during the year. As you hopefully know, we were last judged by Ofsted in June 2017 as ‘outstanding’. We continue to be very proud of this judgement and ever since the inspection, we have all been working very hard to live up to our title. We hope you recognise that we have prioritised the education of your children over the last 2 years whilst battling with extreme Covid challenges along the way. We do not know when Ofsted will come knocking on our door again, but what can assure you is that we welcome them anytime, as Newdale does not go up a gear in fear of an inspection, we are in top gear all of the time!

Share your views through Parent View

Parents and carers can give their views of our school at any time of the school year and at the time of a school inspection using an online questionnaire called Parent View.

Please register with an email address and a password at http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk

Once your login has been activated, it only takes a few minutes to complete answers to short questions about different aspects of your child’s school, from the quality of teaching, to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour.

Your views are important in helping inspectors make a decision about our school, and to help us know what is going well and what could be improved. You will also be able to see what other parents have said about your child’s school. It is all anonymous.
If you do not have internet access or would like help to use Parent View, please ask at the school office or the pastoral team.

We really do appreciate you spending a few minutes completing this survey. It will hopefully help us all work together in making sure Newdale is again recognised for the fantastic work that goes on for your children.

Kind regards

Miss Cook
