Photo Consent for Careers Day

As you all know, we had a fantastic careers day this week. We are very grateful to the people that came in to share what they do with our children.

Some of our visitors have asked if they can be sent some of the photoshots we took to put on their social media eg the police would like some to form part of their safer neighbourhood work.

We know who does not give photo consent in our school, but just wanted to check everyone else is happy for this to happen.

If you are not, please contact the office by Friday lunchtime.

Kind regards,

Y6 Leaver’s Party

With the end of the school year fast approaching, we are excited to share information with you regarding the Year 6 Leaver’s Party. Different to our usual end of year celebrations, the children this year voted unanimously to have this event instead of our usual end of year production. This fun-filled event will take place on the last day of term, Friday 18th July 2025, from 1.15pm until 3.10pm; it will include music, food, games, photo opportunities, inflatables, nerf wars and much more! We invite two adults per child to join us on this occasion for a contribution of £2 per ticket (see ParentPay), which will support the funding of the activities that have been heavily subsidised by school. We look forward to seeing you there!

Arthog Hoodie Order

Arthog Hoodies are available for you to purchase for your child via ParentPay, you will see two items on ParentPay one for the adult sizing and one of the child sizing, please ensure you order on the correct item.  When ordering you will need to state your child’s name, size and two colour choices (1st and 2nd choice) along with two initials (only two allowed) . If you wish to purchase a hoodie the closing date is Friday 4th July.

Mrs Poole is leaving Newdale

Dear Parents/Carers,

As much as I would like to retain all members of the fabulous Newdale team, unfortunately I cannot!

It is with huge sadness, but also huge congratulations, that I have to inform you that Mrs Poole will be leaving us at the end of the year.

Mrs Poole has been successful in gaining a new post in a different school in Telford and I know you will join me in wishing her the very best of luck.

Mrs Poole joined Newdale in September 2008 as a class teacher and has more recently worked intensively as our school SENDco. She has made a very significant contribution to so many areas of our school development and her experience in education will be gratefully received in her new role.

We have already put plans in place to ensure continued stability when she leaves. Mr McFarland is also SENDco qualified and he will take up this role from September.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Free School Meals

Dear Parents/Carers,

We already have many families who enjoy the benefits after applying for Free School Meals and we urge you to reconsider if you meet the criteria listed below.

By applying for Free School Meals, very often parents think it is all directly linked to school dinners- it isn’t! If you qualify for Free School Meals, it also means that you are entitled to significantly reduced prices for school trips, breakfast clubs and after school clubs. There are many other benefits that your child could directly receive to potentially support them at home and if needed, with their learning at school.

Families with children in years Reception up to Year 6 can apply for Free School Meals if they are entitled to certain benefits and have an annual income of £16,190 or below.

Please follow the below link as this will take you to the Telford & Wrekin website where you are able to access more information and download an application form which will be sent directly to the team. Or alternatively, speak to a member of staff in the school office for support in applying.

Childcare funding for working families

Working families across Telford and Wrekin can sign up for tax free childcare.

For every £80 you spend on childcare, they could get an extra £20 through the government’s Childcare Choices. They can claim a maximum of £2,000 each year to help cover the cost of childcare. This includes wraparound care such as breakfast and after school clubs!

NSPCC virtual session

Tonight (Tuesday 18th March) the NSPCC will be doing a virtual session for Newdale parents/carers from 6.00pm – 7.00pm about how to keep your child safe online.

Here are the details below for anyone wishing to attend the virtual session.

Donations to school fund

As a school, we are committed to ensuring that all our children continue to have a variety of opportunities to engage through a wide range of trips, visits and visitors. We believe that these experiences help to provide meaningful learning opportunities, as well as support children with their personal development.

As many of you may already be aware, as a school we subsidise our school visits using our own funds as well as money raised from school events. Although our budgets are certainly becoming tighter, we still appreciate that the cost of living has caused many families to also have financial concerns. Where we can, we will continue to contribute towards school trips so that parents are still not paying the full cost. However, our levels of subsidy simply cannot remain as high as they have always been in the past due to budget constraints.

We have a had number of parents who have asked if they could contribute extra amounts towards trips to support those in our school community who may be struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis. If you would like to do this,  please contribute via ParentPay. Every penny will go towards the trip costs.

We thankyou for your ongoing support.
