Outdoor Learning – January

Linked to our Industrial Revolution topic, we explored the work of Lowry in our EKO session this week. Children made their own matchstick figures using twigs, wool, wire and scraps of fabric. They also found logs to represent factories with huge chimneys. Our next EKO day will be on Wednesday 4th February 2026.

Snow Day Activities

Good morning Year 4,

Happy snow day! If you haven’t already, head over to Google Classroom where you will find today’s home learning activities.

You can do your work on paper, in your homework book or send photos to the Year 4 email address (newdale.year4team@taw.org.uk). Make some time to get outside and enjoy the snow too – we’d love to see your snowmen and pictures of your snow day fun!

Free School Meals

Many of our families are already benefiting from applying for Free School Meals, and we encourage you to check whether you may also be eligible.

It is a common misconception that Free School Meals are only linked to school dinners — there is so much more to it. If you qualify, your child is also entitled to reduced prices for school trips, breakfast club, and after‑school clubs. In addition, there are a range of other forms of support your child may receive, both at home and in school, to help them with their learning and wellbeing.

Families with children from Reception to Year 6 can apply for Free School Meals if they receive certain benefits and have an annual income of £16,190 or below.

To find out more or to apply, please follow the link below to the Telford & Wrekin website, where you can access further information and download the application form. Alternatively, our school office team will be happy to support you with the application process.

Molineux Trip

Last month, Year 4 visited the Molineux Stadium to learn more about how to write match reports. We found out about post-match interviews, met the Wolves Foundation’s Head of Communications and sat in the Stan Cullis stand to have a look at the pitch.

Year 4 Langar Experience

In DT this week, Year 4 practised using claw and bridge cutting techniques to prepare a colourful variety of vegetables for their own delicious, healthy curry! We then created our own Langar experience to share the food in class. This links to our learning about Sikhism in RE.

Exciting News!

On Monday 18th November until Wednesday 20th November, children in KS2 will be able to take part in a Times Tables Rock Stars England Rocks Competition.

The children will try to answer as many multiplication and division questions correctly as they can. The winning school and class will be based on the highest average number of correct answers per pupil.

The children can play between 7:30am and 7:30pm with a limit of 60 minutes.

Please encourage your child to play at home!
