Covid Update 15.10.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

We continue to battle the virus in our school community and continue to rely on parents supporting us at home.

Please do not send your children into school if they are displaying Covid 19 symptoms

  • a new continuous cough
  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

You need to get a PCR test booked straight away please and let us know the result.

There has been some changes in the advice we have been given as listed here …

For pupils identified as household or close contacts by Test and Trace:

  • Household or close contacts of a positive cases are asked to take LFD tests daily for a period of 7 days from the start of what would have been their self-isolation period.  This is in addition to the PCR they will have been recommended to take.

This is a request and though it is not issued by law, we ask you to help us in keeping control of the virus in our school.

We are ever hopeful that the vaccine rollout in secondary schools will impact the transmission rates from older siblings to Newdale children.

Rest assured we continue to do all we can to keep your children virus free.

Mrs Trevor’s Year 2 Zoological Trip

We had a fantastic time on our trip to Zoological.

We really enjoyed travelling to the different continents to see the animals and we looked at their habitats. This linked well with our Science topic, living things and their habitats.

We handled reptiles, watched the animal show and finished off the day with the most spectacular, dazzling bird show. Mrs Goodwin had the best spot for the show with the low, swooping birds! The lemur and parakeets even liked the look of some of us!

It was incredible!

Mrs Trevor and Mrs Goodwin.

Super Stone Age Day!!

We absolutely loved our Stone Age Day today! The children loved getting involved with all of the jobs that early humans had to do and investigating the Stone Age artefacts!

What was your favourite part of the day? Why?

Children in need fundraising

We are very excited to announce that children in Year 4 will be taking part in a ’Big Fancy Dress Singalong’ in aid of Children in Need to help raise money for child mental health projects. The children will be filmed by the BBC and the video will be on local social media via BBC Radio Shropshire’s Facebook page.

We hope that you will help us to raise money for this worthy cause by following the link below:

Year 1 Trip to Hoo Zoo – Miss Newport’s class

Today we visited Hoo Zoo as part of our learning in Science.

We looked at the animals, dinosaurs and even had time to play on the park.  Everyone had a fantastic day!

Mrs Fenn’s Class

I will be running a times table club for my class after half term on a Thursday. Letters were sent out on Friday. This will be a great opportunity for children to practise their times tables and build on their recall. The club is free and will end at 4pm.

If you would like your child to attend, please complete the permission slip.

Many thanks

Mrs Fenn

NB. Mr Jackson will be running a times table club for his class after Christmas.

Ask your child about the 9 times table hand trick!

We have been learning our 9 times tables in class. Ask your child to show you the simple hand trick which helps you become a 9 times table whizz in no time. There are videos on YouTube if your child is still unsure.
