E-Safety Top Tip: YouTube

Some children might want to create and share their own videos on YouTube.

If you decide that it’s ok for them to do this, help them think about what they’re sharing in them and who can see them. You should set up the account together and set it to private so only their friends can watch them and disable comments.

You should also remind them that they shouldn’t share private things, such as:

• personal information, like names, other social media accounts, their school or location phone numbers
• other people’s personal information
• links to join private group chats
• photos of themselves
• photos of their body, such as sexual photos or videos

For more information you could visit the NSPCC parent guide.  https://www.net-aware.org.uk/networks/youtube/

If you have any other E-safety concerns during this lockdown period please get in contact with class teachers or our pastoral team.  We can help you and give you advice.

Important information about the Meet link.

Dear Year 3 parents,

We will be changing the Meet link for each Live session we deliver. This will hopefully avoid the recording problems we have been experiencing. You will always need to log into Google Classroom in order to click on the Meet link at the top of the page. There is not another way to access the Meet sessions. The Meet link will not be visible until 5 minutes before the Live session so please do not worry if you cannot see it at other times. Live sessions take place every day at: 9:40 Literacy 10:50 Numeracy Please bring a pen and paper to the sessions and ensure your microphone is muted when you join.

Many thanks

Y4 PE Lessons

PE- A MUST watch! As we would normally have PE tomorrow, we would still like home learners to stay active. Watch the video below to find out how!

Year 2 Home Learning Thursday 7th January

Hello Year 2!

Here is your learning for Thursday 7th January 😊

There will be two live lessons, Maths at 9.30am (looking at pictograms) and Literacy at 11am (working on adjectives and adverbs).  You should have received an invite for this session however if not, then you can join the meeting through the Teams app. Please come to each meeting armed with paper and a pen to write.

Following the lesson, the questions on the sheet below should be answered.  You do not need to print this sheet but the children will need to see it so they can work out their answers.

Thursday Maths

Thursday adverbs and adjectives

If you are unable to attend the live sessions, a recording of the lesson will always be available afterwards.  Worksheets and any further instructions will be shared via the website. We understand that this is tricky for some of you working from home, especially those with siblings so we understand that it is not always possible to join live. We hope the recordings help to support this.

As always, spelling and times tables activities will be posted online daily.

If you have any questions please email us on newdale.year2team@taw.org.uk

We understand that this is a very difficult time for parents and we are extremely grateful for all of your support.

Many thanks,

Miss Newport and Miss Jones 😊 😊

Y4 Important Information for Home Learning

Hi Year 4,

It was so lovely to see so many of you on our live lessons on Teams today. Please remember that if you were unable to attend, we have uploaded recordings of the lessons onto Google Classroom. While we are on the subject of Teams, please can you also ensure that your child does not re-join the teams invite after the lesson has ended. If your child wants to message their friends, they can use their Purple Mash emails to do so.

Apologies for the issues surrounding editing documents and saving them. We think we have now resolved this. You will notice that we have uploaded new documents for some of the existing posts for today e.g. Literacy, Science and Maths. We hope that you can access these more easily now.

With regards to handing work in, when your child clicks on their work (assignment) it should then open the google docs for them. Please bear with google docs as it can take a little while to load. As your child works on this document, it will automatically save. You will then notice a grey ‘turn in’ button in the top, right-hand corner. Once your child has completed their work, all they need to do is click this. A pop-up will then appear to confirm this. Please click turn in.

If there is not a turn in button, do not worry, your child can then click the ‘hand in’ button which will still be on the page/tab where they accessed the work from.

As always, thank you so much for all of your support (and patience).

Free SIM cards

At school we have a limited number of a 30GB data-only SIMs for which last for 90 days. We would like to offer these to help support children access the online learning.  The SIM cards will work with a Smart Laptop/Dongle if it has a slot for a SIM card, you simply place it in.

The SIM card can be placed into a Smartphone. You can then use that data to connect or ‘tether’ your others devices (eg tablet, laptop) by using the ‘Hotspot’ feature on the phone. You would not be able to use your phone to make calls/texts while using your data SIM.

If you would like a 30GB sim card, please email newdale.primary@taw.org.uk and request one (first come, first served). The data must be used to support home schooling during this national lockdown.

The SIM cards are limited to 30GB, so once that data limit is reached, no further data is available and once the 90 days has ended, any remainder of the 30GB of data will expire.

Regards
