For those children not in a club after school today, bikes and scooters will be left for you to collect on the main playground by the wooden hut. Children in a club will take their bikes with them for when you collect. Many thanks Year 1 Team

Y4 Wheelie Day – Friday 6th June

Children will need a bike, scooter or skateboard as well as a helmet. They will not be able to take part without a helmet.

Wheeled items will need to be left in the cordoned off area of the large playground (outside Y3 classrooms).

Art Day

This year’s Art Day will be held on Wednesday 11th June. Children will be taking part in a variety of creative activities inspired by learning poems, songs and stories by heart. Their shared masterpieces will feature a heart and be displayed around school later this term. Children (and staff) can wear dress-down/arty clothes or may like to wear something featuring a heart! If your child usually has PE on Wednesdays, please ensure that their clothes and shoes are suitable.

🌟🌟Achievement Assembly – Friday 23rd May 🌟🌟

Friday 23rd May 2025

This week, Year 2 have been working incredibly hard on their end of KS1 assessments. We are all so proud of their effort and determination. Year 5 enjoyed their ‘Maya day’ on Tuesday; they completed lots of fun activities to learn all about the ancient Maya civilisation – including exploring Mayan cities and rainforests using VR headsets and weaving baskets using Mayan techniques. On Friday, the whole school enjoyed a ‘fieldwork afternoon’ – getting outside to put some of their practical Geography skills to the test! We wish all of our Newdale families a happy and relaxing half-term and look forward to welcoming you all back into the classrooms on Monday 2nd June.

BeSMART Cup winners who will have a special treat next week:

Year 2 for absolutely smashing their SATS quizzes. They’ve all worked so hard with such a positive attitude and mindset with their Team Awesome and Team Supreme mantra of ‘I can and I will’ and they certainly did! Miss Lowe, Miss Hill, Mrs Stevens and Ms Marshall are super proud of every single pupil in year 2! Well done!

House Points

After lots of hard work from everyone in the team and two interhouse competitions to earn some bonus points, Ironbridge have won the house point battle for this half-term. They will be rewarded with their second house celebration shortly after half-term.

Curriculum Governors Involvement

Our Curriculum Governors met this week and looked carefully at our curriculum development. As part of this they talked to a group of Year 2 writers with their books. It was lovely to see how proud they are of their work. The Governors also analysed the ‘Key worker’ project and the impact that has on children.

Finally, they looked at assessment of the core subjects of Maths and English and how target setting is shared with parents. Next time they look forward to another focus on how we are supporting our SEND learners.

Finance & Personnel Governors Involvement

Governors met today to discuss the finances and personnel of the school.

They firstly analysed in more detail the feedback from the staff wellbeing audit with representatives from staff teams sharing collective feedback. Governors valued their comments and stated that they would action what was feasible to continue with the priority we have on staff well-being.

Governors then listened to the PE lead talk about delivery of the curriculum, plans for swimming and the impact of the sports premium money.

The school budget was signed off after looking carefully at the complex staffing structure we have in place linked to a high percentage of the team on, or going on maternity leave.
