World Book Day in Mrs Sturrock’s Class

What a fantastic day we have all had today celebrating World Book Day!

We have taken part in lots of exciting activities including a costume parade, a reading quiz, masked reader contest, book scavenger hunt, sketching activities to be like a real illustrator and lots of story times where we read some really funny books. We went to base camp and enjoyed a delicious cookie, while Mrs Sturrock read us a story about a crocodile, who at the end of our story, jumped out of the book and ran away! We used our imagination to find clues in our base camp area to find where the crocodile went next once he’d jumped out of the book. There were some great ideas.

The story boxes that were sent in with the children were super. The children enjoyed sharing them with the class.

Take a look at some of our photos from the day including photos of our amazing costumes too!

We hope you have enjoyed looking at our pictures. We are looking forward to next year’s World Book Day already! 😊

Year 2 World Book Day fun!

Today we dressed up as amazing book characters, we had an awesome Masked reader assembly, became illustrators, went on a character hunt to crack the code then we did some other fun world book day activities.

What a wonderful day we had all because we love reading!

World Book Day

The children all looked amazing today! This morning they have designed their own supervillains for a story and included costumes, powers and plots. They also created Roman numeral clocks using a spider web based on our current class book of Charlotte’s Web and managed to squeeze in lots of reading too!

Animal Man

We enjoyed some hands on time with a range of animals today and focused on our topic of Animals Including Humans where we revisited knowledge from KS1 and learnt new vocabulary including graminivore and insectivore as well as learning about our impact on the earth. All the adults were so proud of the children who faced their fears and everybody else who got stuck in!

World Book Day – tomorrow

Just a reminder that tomorrow is World Book Day.  The children are invited to come into school in costume as one of their favourite book characters. However, children are equally welcome to come to school in their pyjamas ready for a bedtime story if they prefer.

We will also be running our Book Swap event again. Children who bring in a book that they no longer want can swap it for another second-hand book on the day (books in good condition only please). If you wish to donate more than one book, the books left over will be distributed between the classes in school.

We are all looking forward to seeing the children in their costumes and once again having a great Work Book Day!!

BeSMART cup treat – Mrs Evans/Mrs Sturrock’s class

Congratulations to Mrs Sturrock and Mrs Evans’ class who have won the BeSMART cup.

As their special treat the children have voted to watch a film with popcorn and a blanket or cuddly toy.

This treat will take place on Friday 7th March (this Friday) in the afternoon.

The children can bring in a cuddly toy or blanket to school with them if they wish. Please ensure anything brought in is clearly named.

If you do not want your child to take part in this, please let Mrs Sturrock or Mrs Wilmot know by the end of the day on Thursday (6.3.25).
