🌟🌟 Achievement Assembly 🌟🌟

Our achievement assembly was held a day early this week due to a special assembly taking place tomorrow. This week, Year 4 had a particularly exciting day at their Ancient Egyptian workshop. They learnt all about the process of mummification and the purpose of canopic jars. They were even able to explore some of the Egyptian pyramid using VR. On Thursday afternoon, we school was filled with many princes and princesses as our Reception classes enjoyed their Royal Banquet. We hope they all had a splendid time!

The pupils in this class have spent an average of 8 minutes per day practising their times tables recall.  This class is Mrs King’s class with an outstanding 100% pupils using TTRS! Congratulations Rockstars! Aidan received the trophy on behalf of his class as he had the highest number of days active on TTRS.

House Points

At Newdale, one of the ways our pupils are rewarded for their efforts, in work and behaviour, is house points. Each pupil belongs to 1 of 4 houses; Wenlock, Wrekin, Severn and Ironbridge. This year, the house team with the highest number of house points at the end of each half-term, will earn a special house celebration (full of lots of fun games and activities). Each week, we share the running totals in assembly but as we are now half way through the half-term, we thought we would share them with our wider community too. 3 more weeks to go and there’s only 10 house points between first and fourth… it is still all to play for!

Will you earn a house point for your team next week?

Staff news

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 3 children,

Mrs Churm is very pleased to announce that she is expecting her third bundle of joy.

We all hope that Mrs Churm will be teaching her class until close to Easter, at which point she will begin her maternity leave.

We will inform you of our plans to cover this maternity leave closer to the time. Rest assured we will be looking very carefully at the cohort and our staffing options in order to ensure the continued high quality provision over the rest of the year.

We all wish Mrs Churm and her family the very best of luck.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Macmillan Charity

Dear Parents/Carers,

We will soon be announcing the final figure raised for Macmillan following the Wrekin ‘Climb Against Cancer’ event and more recently the Grandparents’ tea party.

Our ‘Go fund me’ page will stay open until Thursday evening should anyone like to contribute that has not had a chance to do so. Newdale Primary School and Nursery is fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support (justgiving.com)

We will be presenting the money to Macmillan during a special assembly on Friday and will then send out information to all parents.

Thank you so much for supporting our events. We know that the money raised will go towards supporting so many people that are affected by cancer in our town.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

PE tomorrow

Just a reminder that Year 5 have outdoor PE with crossbar tomorrow instead of Thursday for the rest of this term.

Finance & Personnel Committee Governors Involvement

Finance and Personnel Governors met last week. They looked carefully at the costs associated with the high levels of special educational needs within the school and were pleased with the provision on offer. They studied in detail the Summer term parent survey and were again pleased in reading so many positive responses. They focused on development points and were reassured that telephone calls had been made and actions taken where appropriate. Next time the Governors will continue looking at SEND provision across the school.
