A great start to our Egyptian Day

We are enjoying learning about the mummification process. Why not ask your child what they learnt when they get home from school today.

Information check sheets

Dear Parents/carers

We will be sending home check sheets with children in Years 1-6 to make sure that the information that we hold on our system is up to date. Please ensure that you check through, make any amendments and then sign and return to your child’s class teacher even if there are no changes to be made.

Many thanks

Covid 19 update

Dear Parents/Carers,

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-parents-and-guardians-when-you-should-book-a-coronavirus-test-for-your-child/letter-to-parents-and-guardians-when-you-should-book-a-coronavirus-test-for-your-child

We have sent this document out before, but wanted to make sure it reached everyone. We are trying so hard to prevent any positive cases in our school, but we need your help…

Please follow all of the guidelines and in particular –

  • Making sure you are not sending your child/children into school if they are unwell.
  • Making sure they wash their hands before coming in to school and on arrival home.
  • Ensuring your children and you yourselves are socially distancing at the key times of drop off and pick up.

Clearly we can not control what goes on out of school, but ask that everyone does ‘their bit’ in trying to keep the virus out of our community and therefore lowering the risk of it getting into our school.

Thank you for your continued support.

Important Information – Y4 Multiplication Check

In June 2021, all children within Year 4 will take part in a statutory multiplication tables check. Each child will take a short online test to make sure their times tables knowledge is at the expected level.

Please read the letter attached carefully for further information about the multiplication check: Times Table Letter for Parents 2020 2021

Due to the impact of school closures last year, we understand that children may have gaps in their times table knowledge. In Year 4, we have put an emphasis on times table practice; we are not only covering them as part of our maths lessons, but also in the afternoons. We would greatly appreciate it if you could continue to support your child with their times tables learning at home.

Times Table Rockstars is a great website to support your child with their times tables as it works on improving the speed of their recall. In addition to this, recordings of our times table songs can be found in the resources section of the Year 4 page of the website. From past experiences, lots of the children respond well to learning these songs to support them in learning and remembering their times tables.

(Songs Disclaimer: I apologise in advance for my singing ability- I’m no Beyonce!)

Y4 Nature Walk

Year 4 will be going on a Nature Walk on Friday 16th October 2020 in the afternoon. Given the changeable weather conditions at this time of year, please ensure that your child comes equipped with old clothing, a waterproof coat and suitable footwear in a plastic bag with their name on.

Thank you for your support,

Miss Macfarlane and Mr Jackson
