On Tuesday 18th March, the NSPCC will be doing a virtual session all about how to keep your child safe online. For more information, please see the attached flyer.

Here are the details below for anyone wishing to attend the virtual session.

This session will also run at Newdale Primary school on Tuesday 6th May from 2:00-3:00pm for anyone wishing to attend face to face.

Story in a Box Competition – Nursery – Y6

This year, we will also be running a competition, ‘Story in a Box’. The children are invited to create a story in a box. All you need to do is create your favourite story inside a box. This will be a house competition – one child from each house across the school will be chosen to win a £5 voucher that they can use in our Scholastic Book Fair. If your child wishes to take part, please ensure your child brings their box in no later than Monday 3rd March. Forms can be collected from the class teacher. The winner will be announced on World Book Day during our whole school assembly.

KS2 Family Cooking session – 18th March

We’ve had a big interest in the family cooking session with over 72 parents putting in an expression of interest. As this session is being run by an external agency, they can only accommodate 6 children and their special adult. The 6 children have been randomly selected and parents have already been informed.

We have some other lovely sessions running this half term where children will learn about healthy eating and healthy lifestyle choices in class. Look out for photos on Facebook and class pages of the website.

NSPCC Speak Out Stay Safe

We will be participating in the NSPCC’s Speak Out Stay Safe programme during the week starting 17th March. This important initiative aims to educate children about the different forms of abuse, how to recognise the signs, and the importance of speaking out to stay safe. The programme includes engaging virtual assemblies and interactive classroom activities designed to empower children with the knowledge and confidence to seek help if needed. We believe this programme will greatly benefit our students and support our school’s safeguarding efforts. Please see the attached letter for more information.

World Book Day – Thursday 6th March

We are delighted to announce that our school will be celebrating World Book Day on the 6th March. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to explore the joy of reading and to share their favourite stories with classmates. Throughout the day, we will have a variety of fun activities planned, including The Masked Reader, storytelling sessions and a themed lunch.  We encourage all students to come dressed as their favourite book character as well as take part in our, ‘Story in a box’ competition. We look forward to a day filled with literary adventures and fostering a love for reading in our children. Please see the attached letter for more information.

WBD – parent letter – March 25

There will also be a Book Fair taking place in school (14.03.25- 19.03.25), with more information to follow soon.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Newdale Team

Curriculum Committee Governors Involvement

The Curriculum Governors met this week. They wanted to check that the girls at Newdale have as much opportunity in sport than the boys. Thankfully this was proved to be the case, and they look forward to talking to a cross section of girls about sport next time. They also put a lens over Geography and Science. Children spoke with enthusiasm and knowledge about both subjects. The Governors also spoke to two key workers and their attached children. It was fabulous to see such positive relationships and the impact of this project on children’s well-being.
