Ludlow Castle Trip

Go back in time and experience life in a medieval castle.
Experience Matilda the maid’s morning, handle artefacts that
would have helped her in her work, find out where she slept
and how she prepared the meals.
In this workshop our class will have the opportunity to re-enact
a medieval banquet, share food and feast, dance and hear
a few jokes from the court jesters! They will listen to music from the
time as they dress up and take on roles of key characters from the
castle, will they be a Lord, Lady or even the Black Knight?
The children will learn about the key parts of a castle during the
workshop and take part in a visit to Ludlow castle.

This is a full day!
We would need help 8:40am - 3:30pm

Please email us at newdale.year1team@taw.org.uk if you can help.

Year 4 Half-Term Times Table Practise

Year 4 – Half-Term Times Table Practise

As you will all be aware, all Year 4s complete a Multiplication Times Table Check to ensure that they can recall their times tables facts accurately and at speed. We are so proud of our Year 4 pupils because they have all made excellent progress and the adults at school sometimes struggle to keep up with the speed at which they can recall their times tables!

The Multiplication Times Table Check is shortly after the half-term break (week commencing Monday 13th June). To ensure that our pupils keep up with their speedy recall, we have set an Ultimate Battle of the Bands between the two Year 4 classes. The winning class will receive a prize in the first week back!

In addition to this, please encourage times table games within your household (this may be testing each other on a mixture of times table questions, writing the multiples of a number out on paper and racing to splat the correct answer to a question etc.). Please speak to your child’s class teachers if you would like some more inspiration for fun times table practise.

Please also use the following website to practise recall and experience what the real Multiplication check will feel like.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Reception Update

We would like to update with you with staffing in Reception after half term.  Mrs Stevens, teaching assistant based in Miss Hailey’s class, will be moving from the Reception team to support in another year group for the remainder of this academic year. We would like to thank Mrs Stevens for all her hard work supporting the Reception children in their first year at school.

Goodbye for now

Becky Fenn, who is mostly stationed in ladybugs, as some of you may have guessed, is expecting a baby.  Her last day in nursery will be Friday 26th May.  I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing her well and we can’t wait to meet her new bundle of joy.  If your child is in her key group you will be informed of their new keyworker.

Exciting times!

Lisa Curnow

Reception DINO-DAY!

On Thursday 25th May Reception will be having a Dinosaur Celebration Day to mark the end of our fun topic and the end of another half term.

Please come dressed up! Perhaps you might like to come as a Dinosaur or even a Caveman or Cavewoman! This can be as full on or as low key as you like—it is all just for fun!

Many Thanks

The Reception Team
