SATs Week Arragements

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are almost ready for SATs next week and are so pleased with how the children have been working so very hard, both in school and at home.

We just wanted to remind you that we are expecting to see all Year 6 children by 8.15am next week for their free breakfast club. This will run from Monday to Thursday.

For homework this weekend, we will be uploading some revision activities to the class pages on Google. However, this work will be optional. At this point, some children really need to spend the weekend unwinding, whereas others may want to dip in to some practise.

The best thing you can encourage your child to do for next week, is to sleep well and remember that they will be fabulous! We are really so proud of them all. Many thanks for your continued support.

Online Safety Top Tip – Smishing

Does your child have a mobile phone?

Do you know what smishing is?

SMS phishing or ‘smishing’ is one of the most common forms of mobile-based cyber-attack. Smishing is when a scammer texts their target, pretending to be a reputable person or organisation. They aim to trick the victim into supplying sensitive data such as bank details and personal information, so they can then access the target’s bank account and remove money.

What should you do?

We advise that you explain to your children what they should do if they ever get a text message from someone they do not know. It is vital that they tell someone else and do not reply unless they have checked it is safe to do so. Encourage your child to talk about how they use their mobile phone on a regular basis.

There are also anti-virus software which now protects mobile phones. They detect phishing links in text messages and alert you about the risk. You should consider downloading anti-virus software to your child’s phone.

Miss Harrison’s Class Treat

Miss Harrison’s class won the brand new BeSMART cup before Easter. As their treat, they can come in their own clothes tomorrow (Friday 29th April) and we will be playing some games outside and will have some time inside for arty activities. Well done Year 5!

Kandinsky Art in Reception

This week we revisited our learning about the artist Kandinsky. We remembered so many facts that Miss Hailey was so proud of us. Here are some examples of the facts we remembered:

” Kandinsky was a teacher. He didn’t want to be a teacher anymore. He wanted to do a different job. He wanted to be an artist.” – Harry

”He was abstract. That means different things from his imagination.” – Jack

”He painted circles.” – Elena

“He used bright and dark colours.” – Alex

”Kandinsky used paints. He makes pictures of his music.” – Primrose

”Kandinsky lived in Russia.” – Joe

”He used paints to paint shapes.” – Jomi

”Kandinsky painted his own stuff, made up things his head.” – Louie

Here is a display of our class  masterpiece! We made Kandinsky inspired snails 🐌. Check your Evidence Me app for photos of your own child paining their snails.
