Y5 EKO day – tomorrow

Tomorrow (17th) is our EKO day. Children can come to school in their own clothes and a warm/waterproof coat. They will also need a spare pair of shoes as it will be muddy and MUST wear two pairs of socks if they are planning on wearing wellies.

Polar Express Trip Reminder

Year 1 will be visiting the Polar Express Train ride at Telford Steam Railway on Tuesday 16th December. This is an immersive re-creation inspired by the iconic 2004 Polar Express film. When the children arrive at the railway station, they will firstly be given a tour of a locomotive. They will then be invited to some pre-show entertainment. As they travel to the ‘North Pole’, iconic scenes from the film will come to life. The children will have the chance to have a golden ticket and will be given hot chocolate on the journey. They will also be given the first gift of Christmas, a silver sleigh bell to take home. The children will be leaving school at 2:30pm and arriving back to school at 5:30pm, please collect from your child’s classroom. They will need to come to school in their uniform and bring a pair of pyjamas to dress into (they may wish to bring a dressing gown too). They will need a coat and a sensible pair of footwear (e.g trainers).

Reminder Year 1

We are extremely excited to be going on the Polar Express Trip on Tuesday 16th December. Next week we will start reading the book and learn that the main character goes on his adventures in his Pyjamas. To avoid extra bags in school, children are able to come into school wearing their Pyjamas and they do not need to bring in their book bags. They will also need to ensure that they are wearing comfortable and suitable outdoor footwear and also have a warm, waterproof coat. To get us into the festive spirit, we also ask children to wear a Christmas hat to complete our festive outfit.
Many thanks The Year 1 Team

Year 6 Christmas event

As you know, on Tuesday 16th December it will be the Year 6 Christmas event. Entrance is through the office from 2pm and the event will begin at 2.15pm. Tickets are still available directly from the office (this event is no longer on Parentpay). Please can children (and adults if they wish to!) wear their Christmas jumpers on this day, along with their school uniform. Santa hats etc are welcome – the more Christmassy the better!

We look forward to seeing you there.

Free School Meals

Dear Parents/Carers,

We already have many families who enjoy the benefits after applying for Free School Meals and we urge you to reconsider if you meet the criteria listed below.

By applying for Free School Meals, very often parents think it is all directly linked to school dinners- it isn’t! If you qualify for Free School Meals, it also means that you are entitled to significantly reduced prices for school trips, breakfast clubs and after school clubs. There are many other benefits that your child could directly receive to potentially support them at home and if needed, with their learning at school.

Families with children in years Reception up to Year 6 can apply for Free School Meals if they are entitled to certain benefits and have an annual income of £16,190 or below.

Please follow the below link as this will take you to the Telford & Wrekin website where you are able to access more information and download an application form which will be sent directly to the team. Or alternatively, speak to a member of staff in the school office for support in applying.

Friday 12th December

As the end of term approaches, the school has been buzzing with festive cheer and activity. On Monday, Year 3 enjoyed an exciting trip to Southwater, while Nursery delighted families with their Christmas celebrations in the hall. Midweek brought a splash of colour as children proudly wore their Christmas jumpers and gathered for a delicious festive lunch. The week concluded on Friday with Year 2’s wonderful nativity performance. We are incredibly proud of the children’s dedication with learning their lines and songs to create such a memorable performance and a big thank you to the year two team for putting it all together.

Finance & Personnel Governor Involvement

On Wednesday, our Finance & Personnel Governors met in school. A key focus of their discussion was the Pupil Premium Strategy, which will be shared on our website very soon.

The Governors spent time looking at how our leaders and staff teams are working to support our most vulnerable learners. Like many schools across the country, we are seeing a growing number of children with SEND needs. This naturally means we must ensure we have the right expertise and enough staff capacity to meet those needs.

The Governors reviewed both current and future staffing requirements across the school and nursery and considered how this affects the way finances are allocated. They were reassured that staffing is being directed to where it is most needed, and that our inclusive school continues to provide a strong offer for all children.
