Junk modelling project week- Reception, Year 1 and Year 3

We are always looking for ways to develop the creative sides of our children. This may be through different opportunities to express themselves in dance, drama and art.

Next half-term, your child will be given the opportunity to junk model! Teachers are planning activities for the children to take part in, which link to their areas of learning.

We need your help! Junk modelling needs a lot of junk and so we would like you to save some of your recycling so that we can use it in class. Items that we need must be clean, not glass or tin and have no sharp edges.  Paper and cardboard packaging tend to be best. Unfortunately, we cannot accept toilet roll tubes.

Ideas for items you can save include –

  • Cereal boxes
  • Tall crisp tubes and kitchen roll tubes
  • Yogurt pots
  • Cardboard food packaging (cereal bar boxes etc.)
  • Egg boxes
  • Plastic bottles – drinks, washing up bottles.
  • Newspaper

Please could you save one carrier bag worth of suitable items to be brought into school?

Your child’s class will be completing their junk modelling project during the week beginning Monday 9th November.

We need to leave all of the materials to ‘decontaminate’ so please can you bring your carrier bag in by no later than Friday 6th November. We can then leave all of the ‘junk’ untouched over the weekend and it will be ready to be turned into our wonderful creations the following week! We will be unable to accept any more donations after this date.

Your child will then get the opportunity to bring home their creations to share with you. No doubt they will gain pride of place in your homes!

Thank you for your support in advance.

Y4 Half-Term Homework

Half-Term Homework

During half-term, please encourage your child to go onto Times Table Rockstars as well as Fiction Express. On Fiction Express, children will be able to select a book (from level 1) and work their way through the chapters of their chosen book and the quizzes which follow. If your child is in Orange or Red group for reading, they may prefer to try level 2 books. Your child’s login for both these online platforms are in their home school communication book.

Many thanks

The Y4 Team

Year 4 Spellings

Hi Year 4

There was a slight error in one of the spellings on your homework this week.

Seizure should have been spelt with a ‘z’ and not an ‘s’.

An updated spelling list is attached.

Starting after half term, Battles will begin on a Friday and end the following Thursday evening, which will mean we can then see which class has won by the Friday morning. The winning class will be announced during our Star of the Week assembly on Friday and will win the Times Table Rockstars trophy to have in their classroom for the week.
