Starting School Reception & Secondary in September 2024

The online application form for children who are due to start primary school (Reception), secondary school (Year 7), or those transferring from infant to junior school (Year 3) in September 2024 is now available via the Telford & Wrekin website.

  • Parents will need to make an application to the Local Authority in which they live even if they want to apply for a school in another LA area.
  • If a child is attending a school based nursery, they still need to apply for a school place.

All parents will need to apply online via the parent portal and are advised to apply to four schools, including their nearest or catchment area school.

The application deadlines for each process are:

  • Reception – 15 January 2024
  • Secondary 31 October 2023

If a child has an Education, Health and Care Plan the closing date is 31 October 2023 for all applications.

  • Further information is available on the Telford & Wrekin website, including links to the updated primary and secondary school admission brochures.

If parents have any difficulties completing their application, they should contact the School Admissions Team at admissions@telford.gov.uk.

Y6 – The Wizard of Oz

We know that you will want to fully support your year 6 children who have worked so hard to learn their lines and bring you their wonderful performance. For this reason, we respectfully ask that parents do not bring young children to the play which will last for over an hour. We know that young children can distract the performers and make it difficult for their lines to be heard.

The evening performance at 6pm is now sold out.

There will be a collection at each performance to help raise money for the school to purchase a new maple tree to replace a tree that had to be removed due to disease.

Any donations will be gratefully received.

Thank you

Wizard of Oz – reserve tickets

Reserve tickets for the Wizard of Oz are now live on ParentPay. These are being sold on a first come first served basis. Please note, only one transaction can be made. There is no limit to how many tickets can be purchased. Once these are sold, we are unable to allocate any further spaces.

Year 6 Leavers Assembly

Year 6 Leavers Assembly

For their final farewell, year 6 will be hosting an awards ceremony, distributing awards to peers who they have voted for in class. The assembly will begin at 2.00pm and there will be an opportunity for photographs to be taken at the end. The children can bring in smart clothing (such as their prom outfit), if they wish to change into this before the event, however this is not compulsory.

We ask that no more than two adults per household attend to ensure there is enough room in the hall for every6one.

Thank you,

The Year 6 Team.

The Wizard of Oz Production

Tickets are now live on ParentPay for the Year 6 production of The Wizard of Oz. The production will take place on Thursday 20th July at 1:30pm & 6pm.

Parents can book up to x2 tickets for each performance. Tickets are on sale until midday on Thursday 13th July. Any reserve tickets available will go on sale on Monday 17th July and will be on a first come first served basis.

Parents should arrive shortly before the performance outside the main reception doors. Tickets are £1 each and must be purchased through ParentPay.

School Uniform

Just a reminder that children should be wearing full school uniform every day. In addition long hair must be tied back for PE lessons.  We encourage all children with long hair to tie it back to help prevent the spread of headlice. We are currently struggling with headlice within the school.  We recommend you check you child’s hair on a regular basis for headlice/nits.

Many thanks for your support.

Year 6 trip reminder

A polite reminder of the Year 6 trip to Telford Town Park tomorrow.

Please can all children wear school uniform, with trainers, as well as a water bottle and waterproof coat in their bags should the weather change. Lunch will be provided from Pizza Hut and so there is no need for a packed lunch, unless your child does not wish to have the food given.

Many thanks,

Year 6 team.
