Reception Message

Please could we ask that all lunchboxes are clearly named, to ensure they collect the correct lunchbox from the trolley at lunchtime. Please remove lunchboxes from your child’s bag and place it on the lunch trolley situated outside the Reception classroom in the morning.

Could we also request that all uniform is named so that we can return misplaced items to the correct owner quickly.

Home/School communication books/Reading diaries have now been sent home. These will be sent home with a ‘share a story’ book daily. Please return these each day in the named plastic wallets they were provided in.

Finally, could we ask that children only bring in 1 named bookbag to school each day. We are limited on space in the cloakroom area and do not have space for additional large rucksacks. Children are only expected to bring in their reading diary and reading book each day. Additional kit bags on forest school day can be catered for as we have separate storage for this.

Thank you for your support.

The Reception Team.

Our First Week in Reception!

Wow, what a busy week we have had settling into life at Newdale! We have loved getting to know all of the children and the adults are very proud of them all for their wonderful first week at school. We cannot wait for the year ahead of us!

Today, your child has come home with a reading diary and sharing story book in their bag. Your child chooses a story from our lovely reading gardens to bring home to share with you, but please return these so we can keep swapping them for more exciting stories to read! You might have noticed that their reading diary has a blank front cover; please can you get your child to decorate this by drawing their favourite book.

Next week, the children will have their first PE lessons. These will take place on Monday and Thursday. Please send your child into school wearing their PE kits on those days.

We hope the children have been busy telling you all about life in reception.

Have a lovely weekend,

Reception Team

Year 5- Greece

Year 6- Germany

The children are invited to come into school wearing the colours of the flag that they are celebrating.

Welcome back

It was so lovely welcoming our children and families back to Newdale. The children have all had a great start to the year already.  Thank you for your patience at drop off as the children entered their new classrooms.

Due to the construction work, any bikes and scooters can be kept in the bike shelters by forest school for the time being.

We have noticed a few children with holiday hair braids in. We kindly ask that these are to be removed by next week.

Many thanks

Miss Cook

Reception Message

Good evening,

You will have seen the update about the building work being completed on site at school currently. This work does mean that the outside play area of Reception has had to move many items out of the area whilst the work is being completed.

Please bear with us, and we will have the outside area back up to its usual standard as soon as we can. In the meantime, we will be making use of the immediate area outside our classrooms and bringing across the resources as we need them, as well as making use of the playground and jungle gym.

Climb Against Cancer update

We just wanted to give you a quick update on our ‘Climb for Cancer’ fundraiser. We are delighted with the donations so far and are excited to see what the final amount will be; we are on track to reach our target. On Friday 27th September, we will be holding a Macmillan Grandparents’ Tea Party as a final celebratory event. Following this event, we will announce the final amount which we have raised as a school and community. More information on timings and how to purchase tickets will be shared shortly with you all.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Miss Cook

Site Access

 Dear Parents/Carers,

I have now completed a site walk and can update you concerning access.

The top gate and top car park will remain closed as the work is completed. We anticipate this to be for approximately 4 weeks.

The main gate and the gate by the Year 6 classrooms will be open. We are also temporarily opening the double gates to the rear of the reception outdoor play area.

This will mean that we have a route open that goes right around the school and therefore everyone will be able to get where they need to be.

Teachers and Teaching Assistants will be visible to help with finding the correct classes. We will also have a good number of other staff outside to assist.

With the top car park being out of action, we are going to have to prioritise staff parking on site for this short time. This will mean our visitor car park will mainly be full of staff cars. We are leaving the 3 disabled spaces free and the 3 spaces next to them free for our visitors and for blue badge holders.

We are concerned about breakfast club drop off time as we know this is a time that this car park is used significantly. Please make alternative arrangements if you can for this short period of time. It is unavoidable and I can assure you that the contractors are working really hard to finish the work as quickly as they can.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Miss Cook
