Free Dog Waste Bags Available for the Newdale community

Dog fouling continues to be an issue in parts of our local area, and we are working closely with the Parish Council to help keep our community clean and safe for everyone.

To support this, free dog waste bags are now available for parents/ carers to collect from the school office. By making bags more accessible, we hope to reach a wider area of the Parish and encourage responsible dog ownership.

Thank you for helping us keep our paths, play areas, and walkways pleasant for all in our community.

World Book Day – Stories that Add Up

On Thursday 5th March, the children at Newdale will be celebrating World Book Day, alongside NSPCC Number Day.

Children will enjoy a range of fun activities that combine the magic of stories with the power of numbers. They can:

  • Take part in maths-themed reading challenges
  • Solve story-based puzzles and problems
  • Explore books that bring maths to life

Dress-Up Theme:
Children are welcome to dress as their favourite book character or get creative with a maths-inspired costume (numbers, shapes, patterns – let their imagination run wild).

Please ensure costumes are comfortable and suitable for school activities.

We look forward to a day full of reading, counting, and creativity! Thank you for your support in making this event a success.

Learning About Staying Safe – Share Aware & PANTS Rules

This week, the children from Reception to Year 6 have been taking part in the Share Aware lessons from the NSPCC, understanding how to stay safe online and make sensible choices when using the internet and social media.

We also introduced the PANTS rules, another NSPCC initiative that teaches children about body safety in a simple, age-appropriate way. The PANTS rules help children understand:

  • Privates are private
  • Always remember your body belongs to you
  • No means no
  • Talk about secrets that upset you
  • Speak up, someone can help

These lessons are designed to empower children to stay safe both online and offline. We encourage you to continue these conversations at home. For more information and resources, please visit:

Thank you for supporting us in helping children stay safe and confident.

Fallen Tree

Please be extra careful when arriving at school this morning if you are accessing the school grounds from the rear of the site.  There is a fallen tree that came down during the storm.  Risk assessments are in place and access is still possible.

Snow Day Activities!

Good morning Year 6,

How exciting to wake up to all of the lovely snow; we do hope that you enjoy playing in it and making lots of fantastic snowmen – this could be your PE lesson for the day! We would love to see pictures of your snowy adventures so do send them to the year 6 inbox: newdale.year6team@taw.org.uk.

Here are some suggested activities that you may wish to do today while enjoying a hot chocolate :-)

Read Theory – use your login details to access your reading comprehension questions and write a comment in your reading diary.

Go on TTRS or Hit the Button to practise your multiplication facts. Have a go at creating your own long multiplication questions as an extension.

Arithmetic – the arithmetic paper that we were going to complete in class this morning is now live on Google Classroom. How many can you complete in 30 minutes?

Tell your adult all about our first lesson on how Crime and Punishment has changed through the ages and make a fact file recording our learning on this topic so far. If you wish to, you could begin to research further on crime and punishment during Roman times, as we will be focussing on this next lesson.

You will also see a link in relation to Aretha Franklin on Google Classroom. In music, we are going to be learning about inspirational women in music and Aretha Franklin is the first artist we will focus on. If you would like to, you can follow the link and make a fact file all about Aretha Franklin.

These are optional tasks and we will be covering them in lessons when we return to school so do not worry if you are not able to complete them.

We know life and work continues for parents so complete what you can with no pressure.

Most importantly, stay safe and enjoy the snow.

Have a great weekend,
Mrs Arthurs and Mrs Stack

Free School Meals

Many of our families are already benefiting from applying for Free School Meals, and we encourage you to check whether you may also be eligible.

It is a common misconception that Free School Meals are only linked to school dinners — there is so much more to it. If you qualify, your child is also entitled to reduced prices for school trips, breakfast club, and after‑school clubs. In addition, there are a range of other forms of support your child may receive, both at home and in school, to help them with their learning and wellbeing.

Families with children from Reception to Year 6 can apply for Free School Meals if they receive certain benefits and have an annual income of £16,190 or below.

To find out more or to apply, please follow the link below to the Telford & Wrekin website, where you can access further information and download the application form. Alternatively, our school office team will be happy to support you with the application process.

Weather Update – Storm Goretti

We are closely monitoring Storm Goretti and following the latest guidance from the Met Office. Current forecasts suggest that Telford may begin to feel the impact from around 5pm this evening.

At this stage, we are hopeful that Newdale will be open as normal tomorrow. However, there is a chance that some or all our services could be affected depending on how the weather develops.

We know how important timely information is for our families, so we will continue to keep you updated and share any changes promptly via Facebook.

Kind regards, Newdale

Communication – Arbor

From next week our main communication to parents/carers will be through Arbor using the app instant message which will be similar to the previous text message service. Our website and Facebook page will continue to be used as additional forms of communication alongside Arbor.

Please ensure you have set up your account by next week in order to receive communication from school.

If you are experiencing any issues with setting up your account, please get in touch with the school office and we shall do our best to help.
