Online Safety Top Tip – Parents guide to Twitch

Twitch is a livestreaming service which tends to focus on gaming. Users can publicly broadcast their gameplay and commentary online for other users to watch. It’s a community-driven platform where viewers can support their favourite streamers’ channels through PayPal donations, “Bits” and more. Each streamer or group creates their own community for fans to interact with each other. Twitch has more than 15 million daily active users and includes non-gaming topics such as music, cooking and art. Anyone can create a channel to livestream or watch videos.

In the guide, you’ll find tips on a number of potential risks such as inappropriate content, private chat rooms and strangers.

Reception Star of the Week

Congratulations to Liliana who was Mrs Sturrock and Mrs Evans’ Star of the Week this week for being a fantastic role model for others in the class and always giving 100% effort in everything she does. Well done Lily!

Art Day in Reception

On Friday it was Art Day at Newdale.

As part of our exciting Art Day activities, Reception have been learning about the artist Bridget Riley. We looked at the type of art work Bridget Riley produced and how it is mainly optical illusions. We looked at how optical illusions are where ‘we see something more in a picture that looks quite simple at first’. We looked at lots of different examples of optical illusions created by Bridget Riley and then worked collaboratively to create our own class ‘op art’. We linked our artwork to the United Kingdom and created a map of the UK in the style of Bridget Riley. We used different shades of green paint to create our land and different shades of blue paint to create our ocean using dots/ circles and lines to create the effect.

When we weren’t creating our map of the UK we created our own art work using a range of different media. We have had such a fun, messy day!

Our art work is still drying at the moment but we will share a photo of the finished ‘masterpiece’ next week once it is dry and put together. Here are a few photos of us busy creating it in the meantime…

Art Day in Reception 🎨

We loved art day today. Everyone dressed for the occasion.
We learnt about the British artist Bridget Riley and then created a masterpiece inspired by her style. We loved looking at her artwork. It played tricks on our eyes and some made us feel dizzy! We also enjoyed time to paint freely. Such a fun day.

Art Day in Year 6

The theme for Art day this year was Art and Geography, celebrating artists from all around the world.

Year 6 had a brilliant Art day, celebrating the work of Katsushika Hokusai, with a particular focus on the Great Wave Off Kanagawa.

We began the day with some map work and researching Japan. We then explored and commented on his work, experimented with hot and cold colours, before creating our own final, chance to shine piece.

Can you spot any Telford landmarks hidden between the waves?
