Free School Meals

Many of our families are already benefiting from applying for Free School Meals, and we encourage you to check whether you may also be eligible.

It is a common misconception that Free School Meals are only linked to school dinners — there is so much more to it. If you qualify, your child is also entitled to reduced prices for school trips, breakfast club, and after‑school clubs. In addition, there are a range of other forms of support your child may receive, both at home and in school, to help them with their learning and wellbeing.

Families with children from Reception to Year 6 can apply for Free School Meals if they receive certain benefits and have an annual income of £16,190 or below.

To find out more or to apply, please follow the link below to the Telford & Wrekin website, where you can access further information and download the application form. Alternatively, our school office team will be happy to support you with the application process.

Weather Update – Storm Goretti

We are closely monitoring Storm Goretti and following the latest guidance from the Met Office. Current forecasts suggest that Telford may begin to feel the impact from around 5pm this evening.

At this stage, we are hopeful that Newdale will be open as normal tomorrow. However, there is a chance that some or all our services could be affected depending on how the weather develops.

We know how important timely information is for our families, so we will continue to keep you updated and share any changes promptly via Facebook.

Kind regards, Newdale

Y2 Times Table Rock Starts Launch Day – Friday 16th January

On Friday 16th January, Year 2 will be celebrating our ‘Times Table Rock Stars’ Launch Day!  We would love all children to come dressed as rock stars for the occasion… think bold outfits and big hair!

Throughout the day, the children will enjoy a range of fun and engaging times‑table activities to kick off our learning in style.

Please note that Forest School will still take place as usual in the afternoon, so children will need to bring their Forest School clothing with them.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic day of learning and rock‑star fun!

Thank you for your continued support,

Year 2 Team

Communication – Arbor

From next week our main communication to parents/carers will be through Arbor using the app instant message which will be similar to the previous text message service. Our website and Facebook page will continue to be used as additional forms of communication alongside Arbor.

Please ensure you have set up your account by next week in order to receive communication from school.

If you are experiencing any issues with setting up your account, please get in touch with the school office and we shall do our best to help.

Harry Potter Studios Trip on 12th December 2026

Harry Potter Studios Trip on 12th December 2026

This is a gentle reminder that our school trip to Harry Potter studios is on Monday (12th December 2026) Please see the following information and reminders:

  • Departure: The bus will be at the bus stop on Rock Road and not at school, so please bring your child here and stay with them until the adults arrive and allow them to enter the bus. Please note we will be getting on the bus at 6.45am and leaving at 7am. We will not be able to wait for children who are late due to entering the tour at our allotted time.
  • Travel sickness: If your child suffers from travel sickness, please give them a tablet prior to dropping them off at school. Should they require an additional tablet for the return journey, please inform us via your child’s reading diary. We will then provide you with a medication form, which needs to be returned to school, along with the tablet in its original packaging.
  • Lunch: Children need to bring a healthy packed lunch and drink with them (no sweets or chocolates as this can make children sick on long journeys). Please can lunches be in a small, empty backpack or in a plastic bag; children will need to go through security and carry their bags around with them all day. They will not need reading diaries or homework books.
  • Uniform: Children are to wear their school uniform, with comfortable trainers.
  • Gift Shop: There should be a small amount of time for children to visit the gift shop. Therefore, if you would like, your child can bring up to £15 spending money. Children will be responsible for looking after their own money all day which is why we have limited it to £15.

We will update you with an estimated time of arrival back at school via the website and social media. We hope for this to be by 5:45pm.

Thank you for your continued support.
